The 2018 Logie nominees have been announced, and there's a bizarre Gold Logie snub.

The finalists for the 2018 Logie Awards have been announced and there are a few surprises in the mix.

The Logies, dubbed “Australian television’s night of nights” honours the best actresses, actors and shows on the small screen.

The awards are handed out in two different categories: Most Popular, which is voted for by the public; and Most Outstanding, which are awarded by a panel of TV WEEK Magazine and industry experts.

This year, perhaps the most surprising category is the TV Week Gold Logie, which for the last few years running has included multiple panellists from The Project. Carrie Bickmore won in 2015, Waleed Aly won in 2016, and at least two of the show’s hosts have been nominated in the category in the last two years.

This year, however, no hosts of The Project are in the mix. Most bizarrely, Lisa Wilkinson isn’t nominated, despite her significant role in TV in the last 12 months.

The nominations are as follows:

The 60th TV WEEK Logie Awards will take place on Sunday, July 1 at The Star Gold Coast in Queensland. This is the first time the glitzy TV event has taken place in Queensland.

For the last 30 years the best of Australian television had always been celebrated in Melbourne – always in Melbourne – but this year all that is about to change.

The Victorian Government announced in September last year that they were  withdrawing their bid to host the 2018 event, with Tourism and Events Minister John Eren saying it’s “time to pass the baton”.

You can watch all the action from the red-carpet and awards-show celebrations will be telecast on the Nine Network and 9Now on July 1.
