Lauren Curtis wanted the perfect lips but ended up with painful bruises and swelling.

Lauren Curtis, Australia’s number one beauty vlogger, has shared a cautionary tale about the side effects of lip filler injections with her thousands of fans.

After having two bad experiences will lip fillers in the past, Curtis recently went for a third attempt, buoyed by the success of the procedure on celebrities like Kylie Jenner.

But instead of walking out with a perfect pout, Curtis suffered through days of painful swelling.

“Don’t really need to say much, it’s kind of like terrifying to be honest,’ Curtis said in a video on her Youtube channel, showing off her swollen and bumpy lips.

“Last night I was really upset about it, thinking ‘why did I do this?’ I should have just been happy with what I had before.”

She finished with a warning to fans who might be thinking about getting the procedure, saying, “I don’t want any of you to think about getting lip injections and have it all be glamourised by everybody and think that there are no risks involved.”

In the end, Curtis decided to go back to the clinic and get the lumps dissolved. After nearly a month, the swelling and bruising finally cleared up.

The vlogger said she shared her story “in an attempt to encourage young and impressionable girls to think twice before making changes to their face and/or body’  as she felt as though the procedure ‘is a bit glamourised on social media.”

However, Curtis says she still plans to go ahead with a “touch-up filler” in the future.

She insists her decision isn't hypocritical, as the message to her followers is about being aware and making good choices.

"It's simply showing people what CAN go wrong, and to think twice before going down that road. I don't think there's ANYTHING wrong with modifying your face or your body because that's your decision and nobody else's."

I don't get why she was surprised? Everyone I know who gets them gets swelling & bruising for at least 2-3 days afterwards, how could you not expect that?! Also lips are one of the most prone parts of the body for swelling too & obviously she has a sensitivity to that
I can always tell when a girl at work has had touch ups... her lips look like she's in the arctic and she sucks on ice for 2 days!

She's a beauty guru, meant to help the average woman on how to improve their look through the art of makeup. If she needs cosmetic surgery to make her feel good about herself then what hope do the rest of us have? Sadly, majority of her followers are young, impressionable young girls. Girls who will do anything to look a certain way.
