What's going on with Kate Middleton's hands? An investigation.

If you’ve stared at enough photos of the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, you might have noticed something… odd.

It’s to do with her hands.

Very often, while photographers are scrambling to get photos of the Duchess’ extravagant jewellery, they incidentally capture another accessory: a bandaid.

Of course, it would be more than understandable for the 36-year-old to have a bandaid on her hand every now and then. But it’s a regular fixture. Dozens of times over the last few years, the mum-of-three has been photographed with a bandaid.

See the following examples:

SHE ALWAYS HAS A BANDAID ON HER HAND.

WHY?

This is obviously a very pressing issue, and one that requires deep thought and/or research.

Interestingly, Kensington Palace has previously been approached about her bandaids, which they call 'plasters' in the UK.

"We have no comment on the plaster," the Palace said, as though they have more important things to do than weigh in on the Duchess' potential hand injuries.

So here are my theories:

She picks at her hands

I do this. When I'm nervous, or anxious, I pick at my nails or wring my hands, which often results in broken nails. There are a few photos of the Duchess picking at her nails, suggesting she might indeed suffer from the same habit.

STOP IT. YOU'LL HURT YOURSELF.

Too much handshaking

Omg.

People are really gross, and if you're the Duchess of Cambridge, you spend a majority of your life... touching them.

Kate Middleton has likely had to shake hands with more people than almost anyone in the Western world. Maybe you get... scabs. And... infections. And... people scrape you. With their rogue nails.

Ew.

A child who may or may not be... George

I don't know why I'm so certain that George is responsible for his mother's injuries.

Perhaps it's his mischievous... face.

Or his... rambunctious personality.

But someone needs to trim his nails and stop him from scratching his mum when she is tasked with telling the future King of England: 'no'.

Lupo

Many people forget that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have a dog - an English Cocker Spaniel named Lupo.

I am not one of these people.

This is the Duchess with her dog in 2011, and yeah, he looks pretty vicious. Like he'd bite and/or scratch.

I have a feeling he has something to do with Kate's mysterious injuries.

The most ridiculous of all the theories around the Duchess' bandaids are those that imply she must be 'careless' and 'clumsy'. Because if the frequency of a person's bandaids doesn't tell you everything about them, then what does?

We may never know why Kate Middleton wears bandaids so often, which I know is deeply troubling. But perhaps we can take solace in the fact that it doesn't really matter, because she seems to be just fine.
