Jackie O defends Roxy Jacenko after being probed by 60 Minutes over timing of cancer diagnosis.

Radio host Jackie O has hit back at suggestions PR mogul Roxy Jacenko timed the announcement of her breast cancer diagnosis to distract from her husband’s conviction for insider trading.

A snippet released from Jacenko’s upcoming “tell-all” interview with 60 Minutes, shows her being pushed repeatedly on the topic, with reporter Allison Langdon insinuating people felt the timing was disingenuous.

“There’s a problem isn’t there, when you announce that you have breast cancer and people’s first reaction is cynicism,” Langdon said, before claiming the questions were being raised “normal people out there”.

An excerpt of Roxy Jacenko’s 60 Minutes interview. Post continues…

“Seriously??? Since when do we get to choose the timing of cancer?” Jackie O captioned an Instagram post featuring a headline about the interview.

“I wouldn’t call those people normal by any means.”

The sentiment was echoed by Jacenko herself who said, “Well they’re not normal Allison,” adding the journalist should “change your friends.”

“It is what it is. I am the person who has got the cancer, my husband is in jail, and I’m now a single mother. I don’t really give a fuck what they think on my timing. ”

Jacenko’s husband, Oliver Curtis, was sentenced to two years in prison after he was found  found guilty of profiting over $1.4 million from an insider trading scheme.

I think some people are missing the point. This women has breast cancer, if she didn't break the story in her own way the Press would have.
We talk about the sisterhood and how we should support each other but I was horrified to see 50% of people picked the lol emoji at the end this story. This just disgusted me.
When your diagnosed with breast cancer your world Falls Apart you feel isolated, alone, and scared about what the future will hold for you. You don't choose this disease and you sure don't choose the timing of it.
If sharing her story can help just one person through breast cancer then I applaud her.

Normal people don't find the need to announce their breast cancer nationally and insist it to be daily news.
Normal people don't find the need to film and televise their operation either.
Normal people dont find the need to post daily selfies in lifts either. So who is the abnormal here?

To preface my comment, I would like to point out I am neither here nor there about Roxy Jacenko. However, I dont think Roxy ever said she was "normal?" It was the journalist who brought up that term, no? Also a lot of normal people do post daily selfies in elevators (usually showing off outfit choices), in many circumstances actually. Just look at snapchat! Honestly, as a PR and social media expert, Ms Jacenko posts the exact type of content one would expect, this is the age of overexposure after all. We either have to like it or ignore it.
