If you’ve ever watched another woman swipe a mascara wand across her lashes, you’d know everyone has their own distinct brand of application.

There are your wigglers. There are your 20-coats-and-I’m-still-not-done club members. And there are those all in favour of applying mascara to their bottom lashes, and those who are repulsed by the idea.

Here to sort the “dos” from the “don’ts” is Napoleon Perdis’s Global Makeup Artist Shev Kelly.

I do a tiny wiggle with my lashes, certainly not as much as shown in the clip. I don't do my bottom lashes on a day-to-day basis, as it can look too much - especially in my office where no-one wears makeup :(

I wiggle and avoid my bottom lashes as I think it drags my eyes down and ages me - my eyelids are pretty heavy anyway and I think this technique helps me look more awake!
