Changing the bed sheets has to be up there as one of the worst 'life jobs' — along with doing your taxes and cleaning the toilet.

From figuring out which is the 'long end' of the fitted sheet (why do they look the same?) to star-fishing across the bed and getting the right amount of give and take to get it on, it feels unnecessarily embarrassing.

But the worst pain-point of all is putting the clean doona cover on. The theatrical shaking, fluffing and flailing to try and spread it evenly is akin to a cardio class — and it still doesn't work.

So when lifestyle TikToker Ashley Paiige shared her easy method, I was well and truly sat.

Turns out we have been doing it all wrong and there really is a 'right' way that will save you time (and your sanity). 

In her TikTok video, she demonstrated the 'duvet method' she insists she "could do in her sleep" and takes no more than three minutes.

First, she spread out the doona insert on a flat surface (her bed), then draped the inside-out doona cover over the top of it.

"Make sure the opening is at the top" she explained.

The next step does require a certain type of doona cover that has ties.

I swiftly checked inside my doona cover corners, and they do in fact have ties that I never knew existed.

But never fear, if your covers don't have ties, there's a backup plan — the trusty old safety pin.

"Attach using the ties (or safety pins) and then all you have to do is roll from the bottom like a burrito," she said.

"When you reach the opening simply push the roll through, grab two corners and just shake it out to fluff."

Her social media followers shared my sentiments and thoughts exactly.

"Me saving this video because I dive inside the duvet cover and grab each corner and crawl out like a crab," one person said.

"School didn't teach me this," another said. 

"This genuinely changed my life thank you so much," said another.

So there you have it. No more wrestling the doona like a crocodile.
