Control pants. Please discuss.

Since I have been trying to dress this new, more curvy body of mine post-pregnancy, I've discovered a little secret among women. Control pants. Suddenly, all sort of women are telling me about their Spanx – control undergarmets that suck in everything from thighs to bums to tummies to back fat.
Recently, J-Lo was photographed with her dress blowing up to reveal some serious control pants:

I also remember reading about Gwyneth post-birth and she told an interviewer that Brazilian women wear these incredibly tight control pants that suck in their tummies for up to 20hrs a day after giving birth.
It's never occurred to me to buy these kinds of garments because I thought they were only for grannies and Bridget Jones. But even women who've never had kids have told me that it gives you a really smooth line under dresses. Goodness. A whole new category of clothes I never knew I needed to have.

I'm only 23 and a size 8, but I still have that bit of muffin top when I wear tight jeans and pants that just doesn't go away with exercise. I love control pants, I have a great pair that I always wear under dresses! :)

I just recieved a pair I ordered off Ebay called "Full Body Slimming Suit" and I swear I must be the only person who seems fatter in them, my clothes don't fit as well either! I go them because it being Xmas there are going to be photo's of me next to my sister in law. And I know this sounds petty but it pee's me off when I look bigger then her in photos! She's 15 kgs heavier then me, but I carry most of my weight in my boobs, and I have broad shoulders, while she is a classic pear, hence when people take photo's they are usually centered at the top of our photo's and I'm instantly fatter!
Ok,now the relevance is while I can't make my top look smaller,I thought at least I could kick her ass (so to speak) by having the smaller bottom half (incuding tummy) by a large degree. So I try on the pants, and having my 3rd child in 4 years nearly 4 months ago has given me a hard earned pouch, which only seemed empasised in these slimming things. Am I just too damn big for these to work? I'm 87kgs,160cms measuring 44"(Breasts)35"(Waist, above dreaded pouch) 41"(around bottom!)
Anyone as big as me and found ones that work or have the same problem (minus petty SIL competition lol)
