The comment that perfectly sums up the ridiculousness of the US presidential race.

As a woman, it’s difficult to remain calm when a misogynist being elected to the most powerful position in the world is becoming a more likely prospect by the day.

Similarly, it’s infuriating to see Donald Trump – a married man who boasted about grabbing women “by the pussy” whenever he wanted (also known as sexual assault) – elucidate what makes the Clintons’ marriage ‘flawed’.

Yet there’s another reason women around the world are incensed by the Republican candidate even being in this race to begin with.

It’s something all women live through, and that we’re positively sick of. It’s something we have experienced in quiet interview rooms, in the office kitchen, at our desks, and around the decision-making table, time and time again.

And it’s summed up perfectly in this comment by Iqra Ahmed, a political science student at Yale University.

Gender inequality in the workplace, particularly in positions of power, is rampant.

Don't believe me? Let's take a moment to examine Clinton's and Trump's CVs.

Hillary Clinton majored in political science at Wellesley College. She has a Juris Doctor degree from Yale Law School. She was the First Lady of the United States for eight years. She was the Senator of New York for the next eight. Then, she served as the country's Secretary of State until 2013, when she declared she would run for the United States presidency as the nominee of the Democratic Party.

Donald Trump majored in economics the Wharton School of Finance and Commerce. In 1971, he inherited his father's company and renamed it The Trump Organisation. Between 1996 and 2015 he owned the biggest beauty pageants in the world. From 2003 to 2015, he hosted NBC's The Apprentice. He did not re-sign with the network in 2015 after announcing he would be running for the United States presidency as the nominee of the Republican Party.

The disparity in their experience isn't just flooring, it's insulting, and Iqra's comment is the perfect distillation of this.

Hillary Clinton is by far the most experienced, qualified person for the job.

But that still doesn't matter, does it? Because above all, Hillary Clinton is a woman, and Donald Trump is a man.

It's becoming as depressingly simple as that.

Everyone has to compete against people less qualified for the job. And hopefully, the best person for the job is the one who gets the job.

And not being from a political background shouldn't mean you are automatically eliminated from the job.

So in the case of this race, we have a well qualified, experienced person, with political experience, as well as experience outside the political field.

And we have a complete moron.

I don't think its a problem that Hillary has to compete with someone less qualified than her, we all do that.
. Both men and women.

If Trump gets elected, then I cannot blame JUST sexism, because its stupidity that goes far beyond that.
