Paleo chef Pete Evans has taken a mocking swipe at his haters after this week's backlash.

It’s been less than a week since Pete Evans was thrust into the spotlight for his questionable health advice, encouraging an osteoporosis sufferer to cut out all dairy during a live Q&A session with his fans.

An Aussie doctor, Brad Robinson, promptly penned an explosive post to remind Evans that he was not, in fact, a medical professional.

And only about a month earlier, Dr Karl laid into the paleo way Evans lives by. And then there was the time he declared he was against the use of sun cream. And we can’t forget his controversial opposition to fluoride. The list goes on.

But with a strong fan base on his side, Evans appears to be unfazed by the unwavering torrent of criticism against him.

In a recent social media post, he has gone so far as to take a swipe at his haters and has advised his followers to keep their paleo diet a secret.

A meme shows stick-men figures reacting with indifference to unhealthy habits like going to McDonald’s, smoking a cigarette, getting drunk.

But when a stick-man with a chef’s hat – presumably meant to be Evans – declares he is going to “eat the Paleo way”, it triggers an angry response: “What!!! You must be crazy. Haven’t you heard it’s dangerous?”

The Instagram caption was dripping with sarcasm.

“Join the most DANGEROUS lifestyle on the planet at www.thepaleoway.com,” he wrote

“Go on live dangerously. Rebels only. Lol.”

That, my friends, is what you call a very cheeky dig.

In a Facebook post, he expanded, encouraging people to embark on the paleo lifestyle (“go on, I dare you”) while urging them to hide it from everybody except their doctor.

“FFS don’t tell anyone (except your doctor so they can do blood test before and after) or they will want to ridicule you about some cave person that supposedly lived to 30 (bahahahah) and get you back onto eating processed crap to make themselves feel better….about themselves!”

Pete Evans

He continued, stating his belief “the only people this is DANGEROUS for, is some rather large industries that would love nothing more than to keep the mass public doing exactly the same thing they have been doing for the last few decades and we all know where that has gotten us and them!”

I don't think paleo is dangerous so much as fanatical- overall I dare say the diet is much better then the average processed crap that makes 40% of the population over weight.
His claims like fluride annoy me as it is not supported by science at all.
His calcium claim while incorrect- dairy doesn't damage bone density but he has a point that it is not essential. Real science doesn't actually support dairy as increasing bone density - rather exercise and adequate vitamin d ( which we get by adequate time in the sun) and plenty of vitamin K2 in our diet ( lots in fermented food so don't waste money on supplements).
On the other hand avoiding dairy has not scientific merit in regards to osteoporosis.
I think he means well but does not have the years of basic human anatomy/biology to interpret studies or understand the nonsense.

I have never heard the K2 claim. Is it found in alcohol? Sour dough? Do you have any further info, please?

I have severe osteoporosis, i don't take meds due to my age and the side effects. I really try to follow all the advice as i am up to about 30+ fractures which really affect my life terribly, not to mention the pain.

Cheers. :)

http://www.osteoporosis.org... but this is more about prevention.
If you already have severe osteoporosis treatments usually include Prolia ( Iv every 6 months) plus vitamin D and calcium.

I hope you have a good endocrinologist is your disease is severe.

Yeah, because putting a classified neurotoxin (wet scrubbed from the chimney stacks of the fertiliser industry) into our drinking water is sooooooo intelligent.

The reality is their is a gap in good studies involving fluoride safety.
Cochrane looked at effectiveness and found benefits in reduced caries in children but none looked at the long term benefits in adults and most were done before 1975 or had methodological flaws.
The safety was not touched on by Cochrane and as a current community concern hopefully studies will answer these questions.
Those quoted above are not relevant - one was with fertiliser, the other was natural contamination- doses much higher then water treatment.

A study is being done in Australia with results out mid next year which should be interesting. Mean while I will keep drinking town water as always.

There is such a large sample of people drinking fluoridated water worldwide, that epidemiologists would have uncovered any toxic effect that outweighs its dental benefits decades ago.

Some chef unearths 'the real truth' where cohorts of doctors and statisticians over generations have found nothing of real concern?

Really? 8 years ago

Not just a gap. NO studies were conducted prior to the introduction of a neurotoxin into the drinking water. NONE.

Given your predisposition to making excuses for the inexcusable, it seems it would be a fruitless exercise in conducting an analysis of your dismissal of evidence that runs counter to your dogged belief.

Only if you're looking. And if the studies were not done BEFORE the practice was introduced, then how can anyone say, with any certainty, that it is safe?

There is NO BENEFIT whatsoever in ingesting fluoride. There is evidence of some benefit of topical application, period.
