Celeb news: Molly Meldrum's first TV interview.

In a letter published in today’s Herald Sun, music guru Ian “Molly” Meldrum has spoken for the first time about the accident that ‘changed his life forever.’

He thanked his friends, family and members of the public for all their support since he fell off a ladder in December last year. Molly was placed in an induced coma after suffering injuries to his  skull, ribs, shoulder blade, vertebrae and collarbone.

“I wish I could reply to all the cards and messages, but it’s impossible – it would take all year and I’d never get my book finished!”

On Sunday Molly Meldrum was inducted into the Logies Hall of Fame.

He also wrote:

Molly

AS you know, I’ve been out on the tiles a number of times. But never like this. My life changed forever when I fell off the roof on December 15 last year.

I can’t say my life flashed before my eyes, but I have had plenty of time to reflect in the past few weeks, and I realise just how lucky I am.

It’s lovely being in the TV Week Logies Hall of Fame; it’s even better to be alive.

Channel 7 broadcast Molly’s first TV interview last night. Here it is:

Love your work, Molly !

The week of Molly's accident, it seemed that every time you turned on the TV there was a report of someone being hurt badly in some way or another. We bought one of those battery operated candles that works on a timing mechanism. It has been named "Molly's Candle".

Every evening at 6.00PM when the candle turns itself on, we send out well wishes to anyone who is in trouble, for whatever reason. It's just our little way of remembering that no matter how bad we may be feeling about what's going on in our own lives, there is always someone who is worse off.

My thoughts are with anyone who is going through a bit of a rough patch. The human spirit can get us through basically anything. Cheers !

I shared a bed with Molly! Ok, we both spent a long time in ICU (at different times - same bed). Good to see you escaped from there too Molly :)
