How we love our Logies. Even those who don’t love them love to say how much they love not caring about them.
But the Logies are there, more glamorous, more controversial, more addictive every year. Personally, I had no clue who half the people on the red carpet were last night. A bit like I have no idea about the horses going round Flemington in November. But that’s not the point. The Logies is ours in all their glamorous glory. With just enough dagginess to make us feel homey. There’s always something to natter about the day after, and for your convenience, we’ve summarised the most talkable talking points. We’re like that.
1. The Frocks.

Georgie Gardner
This, if we’re honest, is what the Logies is all about. If all the stars were to dress in uniform unisex grey tracksuits (you know, so they can be assessed purely on acting ability) would anyone be bothered watching? Noooo. Have a look at our gallery – one of our biggest ever, (it went off last night).
2. The Dancers. So. Flo Rida performed. Huge star. Something of a coup for Australia’s little ol’ Logies. But why, oh why, the dozens of female dancers in black vinyl hotpants and thigh boots? Mia tweeted:
A voice in the wilderness? There seemed to be more complaints on Twitter about the Flo lip-syncing. Sigh.
3. The Dancers. A little later in the show, ‘Australia’s Sweetheart,’ Delta Goodrem performed with a posse of dancers dressed like the cast of a Sunday School’s doing Oklahoma. One (male) dancer’s trousers were hemmed a little short. But that was as racy Delta’s act got. Double standard, anyone?
4. The Delay. When will network executives work out social media isn’t a passing trend? It’s a trending one. Farcically, Twitter knew Hamish had the gold gong before anyone in the room did, thanks to a leak from the Herald Sun. Ooops. Do it live, people, and the Logies will crackle with a whole new life.
5. The Awards. It seemed there were more tweets about the frocks than the awards. This speaks volumes. Awards, in many ways, just get in the way of a good show. Speeches went on too looooong. If someone has time to thank the program’s web designer, they have too much time.
6. Adam Hills. When he popped on his two-year-old daughter’s sunnies (as he promised her he would if he won), Australia said, ‘Awwwww,’ and Delta’s crown as ‘Australia’s Sweetheart,’ looked a little loose.
7. Molly’s Hall Of Fame Induction. For anyone old enough to remember what it was like to argue with your siblings about who WOULD BE NUMBER ONE on Sunday night, it was a delicious look in Australia’s rear view mirror. Great job Danni Minogue and Sir Elton. Do yourself a favour and get well soon Molly.
8. Last Year’s Scandal. Became this year’s running gag. Mrs Stefanovic’s arse has a life of its own. For an explanation, watch Hamish and his acceptance speech here. It kicks off from 3:10:
10. The Mystery Of The Missing Host. What? No host! ON AN AWARDS SHOW! Bloody brilliant idea. Diversify. Share the love. The bad jokes. Giving hosting responsibilities to a range of presenters was a stroke of genius. Something for everybody. BIG WIN.
11. Hamish And Andy. Like naughty boys on school speech night, they charmed every time they appeared – which wasn’t enough.
Okay, that was eleven talking points. It’s hard to keep it short when talking Logies. Tell us, what did you love, like, or long to change about the 2012 Logies?
And for the curious, the red carpet looks from LAST YEAR are brilliant. Here’s how it all unfolded in 2011:

Georgie Gardener is, stunning!! She seems genuinely lovely and is, a natural beauty.
loading...
Did you not run this story yesterday?
What gives?
loading...
It’s still trending as one of our most popular posts. It’s the Internet, we like to play around with the order sometimes
loading...
Kate Richie – WOWOWOWOWOWOW!
loading...
I would have watched The Logies if James Cameron’s Avatar wasn’t showing on the same night. And though I have seen it two times previously – I don’t regret it.
loading...
My rant:
…….I found the reaction of the winners from The Block a bit much. I felt as though Scotty was great – I enjoy him and the renovations, but was a bit disturbed by the overtop emotion on one of the ladies faces in the background, a bit over the top or something like ”fake shock” but maybe it was real shock…lol it lags on also when you are waiting for the whole table to stand up, embrace and congratulate each other, and then push through the squished up tables and chairs all the way to the front stage lol our students accepting their ‘student of the week’ certificates at Friday Assembly runs smoother than what I saw last night LOL

Ok as a former dancer/dancer now singer/dancer ie i no longer have the body for these outfits i cry NO FAIR!!!. What was that wrong with the outfits?? i have done countless “Elvis” gigs over the years in little more that a bunch of feathers. You wear what works for the number, end of story. They were covered and the pants weren’t vinyl they were high waisted granny undie thingys. I get that we want women to be presented in a better light than as a bunch of hookers (per se) but visually the costumes worked with both choreography AND the song. What would you suggest they wear???
loading...
Agreed, I didnt think the costumes were bad at all. I was more thinking ‘why are there so many of them?’. It seemed like there were about 50 dancers on stage. I also couldn’t get past Flo Rida’s wanky attachment on his microphone. Major douchey alert.
loading...
I agree too. The costumes worked. The pants were so high they almost touched the tops, and they had jackets on so it wasn’t like they were actually dancing around in their underwear. And unlike many other performers, the girls are not grinding Flo Rida or acting particularly promiscuous.
loading...
Samara Weaving and Asher Keddie-my favourite dresses of the night (and yay for asher winning a logie)
also, hamish-quite possibly one of the best thankyou speeches i’ve ever heard. funny, but meaningful. ahhh the logies…until next year!
loading...
Watching it in the ad breaks of The Voice. Michelle Bridges looked the best.
loading...
That dress that Kate Ritchie was wearing – didn’t Taylor Swift wear that to something, a long time ago?
loading...
Yumi looks bald in her first photo. And mullet dresses are unflattering and just look stupid!
And why do pregnant women have to clutch their stomachs like that?
loading...
I think so the dress doesnt just hang from far out front and make them just look big as opposed to pregnant.
I generally like a fitted gown on a pregnant lady. There have been some over the years who have done it very well.
loading...
I love Hamish’s speech! And woot! woot! for Chelsie Preston Crayford winning best new talent – she’s my husband’s cousin
loading...
Lisa Wilkinson is perfection.
loading...
Faves: Asher Keddie, Kate Ritchie
Gross: Yumi Stynes, Jen Hawkins
Biggest disappointment: Rebecca Judd
loading...
Asher Keddie is divine, the new Cate Blanchett. Natarsha Belling looks beautiful and elegant. But best dress goes to Lisa Wilkins – how I wish to steal that one!
loading...
Zoe and Hamish are so gorgeous together.
Paula Joye, Asher Keddie, Lauren Phillips, Kate Ritchie, Sonia Kruger and Shelley Craft all looked amazing. I also loved the touch of navy on the red carpet.
I think the logies would be a lot better if they were’nt simply a popularity contest. What about a “Most Talented” category?
Did anyone else think Delta Goodrem was a complete phoney? What was with the fake British accent (hasn’t she been living in LA for the last five years)? I thought that her tribute to Molly was so fake, the fact that she had to read off cards was really cringe worthy and she delivered her speech with about as much feeling as a dead fish.
loading...
Mia, I have to agree with you about the costumes worn by the Flo Rida dancers – not appropriate for a show which was probably watched by a lot of teenage girls. Why didn’t they play 1D first? But, the pants also made me laugh a bit as they reminded me of shapewear – most of us don’t want everyone to know we are wearing our big knickers
I loved Kate Ritchie’s dress – sparkling navy is so glamourous
and Magdalena Roze was a close runner-up for me. In fact, almost everyone looked truly gorgeous
Though I did have to laugh at Paula Joye who commented to “Mornings” camera that she didn’t want to see any bad fake tans…while sporting a pretty extreme tan herself – pot/kettle much?? hehe
loading...
I wish Larry and Kylie would just hook up and get it over with!!
loading...
I can’t believe I am saying this about my FAVOURITE Zoe Foster, but I thought her make up looked really washed out and bland.. I think the naturally glowing look she perfects was not quite enough for her dress/hair. Sorry Zoe!
loading...
That’s interesting, I was just thinking how much I prefer this look to the one she went for at the Arias where she had the super dramatic hair/make up/dress/everything. It was just way too much whereas I thought she looked lovely and fresh here.
loading...
I thought she looked fab! Beautiful glowing skin! I like the Arias look too but I think this is more summery and fresh.
loading...
Kate Ritchie and Megan Gale looked amazing! And J. Hawk’s dress – colour is nice but a little too much split. Tanya Zaetta prob worst as she looks more like she is a ballroom dancer rather than going to an awards show. Too eurotrash I think.
loading...
Zoe, you looked so glowy!!
loading...
Loved Natarsha Belling’s whole look!
loading...
Natarsha Belling, NatBass, Asher Keddie! All looked stunning.
loading...
Georgie Gardner, Asher Keddie, Sonya Kruger, and Kate Ritchie were my fav. Wow Kate’s lost more weight and looking really stunning. I just remember watching Home & Away years ago and she had big boobs – just wondering if she’s had a boob reduction. Who else thinks she has?
loading...
She’s just lost so much weight that she is a lollipop clone!
loading...
Kate Ritchie had a breast reduction years ago – late teens/early 20′s I think. She was quite open about it from memory
loading...
Cannot get over how gorgeous Natarsha Belling is- she looks like a supermodel!
loading...
I watched it before the Logies. That’s 30 minutes of my life I’ll never get back
loading...
My best dressed: Asher Keddie, Natasha Belling, kate Ritchie and Lisa Wilkins
Worst Dressed: Tania Zaetta (not in your pictures above, but believe me truly heinous and reeking of trying to stand out, but unfortunately for all the wrong reasons).
Just an observation and one that annoys me every year is that the Logies are supposed to celebrate the TV industry as a whole, however Channel 9 always seem to snub the channel 7 celebrities, they never show them on the red carpet or speak to them on camera. Channel 9 don’t seem to do it as much with Channel 10 celebs, but way obvious with Channel 7′s, I find it a bit annoying as the awards should be celebrating all channels.

I felt so bad for Chrissy Swan. She’s a great girl but that bathrobe dress was less than flattering. Under some lights it looked like a lycra bodysuit – every bit on display to millions. Eeek!
I love Chrissy but didn’t love the black sack.
loading...
I didn’t love it either, but when she was interviewed she said she felt positively great in it and she loved it and I guess that’s what is important.
loading...
How funny was it when she said ‘she got her pre-baby body back’ i love that she can poke fun at herself .
loading...
I was SHOCKED when Seal sang…. what has happened to his voice?? His smooth and cruisey tones are gone…. he could barely make the notes in his song and it was truly awkward to watch. Such a shame!
loading...
Asher Keddie looked AMAZING! And I loved Shelley Craft as well. Georgie Gardiner and Lisa W also looked beautiful as usual.
I thought all the dancers around Flo Rida were Kim Kardashian look alikes. Eeek.
loading...
Er, that’d be Lauren Phillips, not Lauryn Eagle.
I love that Bindi Irwin is always dressed appropriately for her age. Yay for letting kids be kids.
loading...
Does anyone know who designed shelley crafts dress?
loading...
Can’t find any pictures of Don Hany. My husband laughed at me when I nearly jumped out of my chair when there was a quick cutaway to him onscreen, then I went to bed before the ‘most outstanding actor’ category. Damn.

Dear Logies Production Staff,
This is what you need to do to make the Logies shorter and hence more watchable:
1. Make the acceptance speeches shorter. No-one needs 5 minutes to thank people. Two minutes max, then start playing music, 2 mins 30 secs, fade to black.
2. Have presenters between each section. ie: Best female actor, Best male actor, Best show, then have a presenter.
3. No lagging between sections. There are too many camera shots and the presenters seem to drag their slots out. Get in, say a few jokes, then get out. No lingering.
Could you please take these suggestions on board for next year? Honestly, watching the Logies has become tedious at best.
Yours,
Petal

It seemed to be a big plug a thon for stuff too. Ditch that, that’d help, I’d reckon!
loading...
it does seem a bit tasteless everyone name dropping bands so much. really off putting
loading...
Where’s our Zoe pic? So happy for her and her beloved.
loading...
i dont normally get into the logies and all that jazz but Asher Keddie’s dress was stunning!
loading...
OMG I have a Prue and Trude apron!
loading...
How could you leave out Tony Bennett? Scandalous! He was ptich perfect. Delta and Seal can’t say the same. And don’t get me started on the other guy.
Antonio B. is pure class.
loading...
Twitter lambasted Delta (sp?) for her singing performance at the Logies. Today Richard Wilkins said she was in great voice etc. Nobody else is mentioning it? Was she good or not? I didn’t hear it.
loading...
She didn’t get off to a great start. A little flat. Then when Seal seemed to have the same struggle I thought maybe it has something to do with the sound engineering but the great TB blew it out of the water.
loading...
Delta hit some pretty awful notes, she wasn’t very good at all. I don’t know why she feels she has to play the piano every time, she looked very awkward in that floaty dress bending over the piano keys.
loading...
Alex Perry’s pose – he does this stance a lot. I always think he looks like he has a power pack strapped to his back and he is about to lift off….

Love the looks of Lisa Wilkinson, Asher Keddie, Jennifer Hawkins (crotch split) and Samara Weaving

Loved looking at the dresses! The J’Aton guys are just incredibly amazing. I am still undecided on Kat Stewart’s dress (also by J’Aton). I like it from the knee up but didn’t like the thick hem…
However I didn’t like:
* The FR dancers – WTF.
* Sonia Kruger’s awful attempt at humor that just comes across as bitchy and it makes it really unenjoyable and awkward to watch. Remember her Brynne comment anyone?
* As lovely as it was, the Molly Meldrum Induction felt more like a ‘tribute’ to someone who had died.
* It went to late on TV – I went to bed at 10.30 and set it to tape the rest. Well, you would think that for something that wasn’t broadcast live that it wouldn’t have gone overtime, but I missed the bloody end.
loading...
I thought the exact same thing about Molly’s induction/”tribute, maybe it would’ve had a completely different feel if he’d been well enough to attend?
loading...
What did Sonia Kruger say? I’m thinking it was something about Carrie Bickmore from what I saw on twitter but I couldn’t find out what she actualy said
loading...
No indecision for me about Kat’s dress…. sorry, but a FAIL for J’aton.
My favourite was Sandra ‘Sultry’ – if I was going to the Logies I would have worn that dress – FAB!
loading...
I loved heaps of them (Lisa Wilk. Georgie Gardner etc) but my fav was Kylie Gillies. She looked stunning.
As for Sonia Kruger, her humour is ALWAYS bitchy. I have never seen her clever or smart commentary on anything, he puts everyone down in attemped humour, its terrible. The sooner she goes the better, David Campbell is great, she spoils the morning show
loading...
Thrusting haf naked dancing women aside, if Flo Ridaah can become famous with talent like that (zzzzzzzz…..) I’m going to start preparing for the release of my debut single next month.
I. Don’t. Get. It.
loading...
He had to have so many dancers so people wouldn’t notice that all he was actually singing was “Put your hands up” sigh.
loading...
Nora – I would buy your single before I would buy Flo-Rida’s!
loading...
There is no link the the acceptance speech for Hamish. Can you add it please

Hey Margs,

off topic but so excited that OFFSPRING is returning to TV this week! love Asher!
Samara Weaving and Jen Hawkins were my favs
loading...
Don’t you think Jen’s dress was a couple of sizes too small for her – she is not fat but you could see every lump and bump and it was pulling across her backside and front – not a good look.
loading...
Wow, everyone looks SO nice…no one looks bad, at all…
loading...
What is a Cinderella complex? Did Delta go home at midnight with only one shoe on? I thought she looked stunning but I’m not sure what a Cinderella complex is!!
loading...
I googled it, but I still don’t get it. She was extremely anoying on “the Voice” last night though.
The Cinderella complex was first described by Colette Dowling,[1] who wrote a book on women’s fear of independence, as an unconscious desire to be taken care of by others. The complex is said to become more apparent as a person grows older.
Colette Dowling attempts to define women as being motivated by an unconscious desire to be taken care of as a fear of independence termed “Cinderella complex”. An important aspect of the work can be defined as identifying an aspect of a larger phenomenon as to why women choose to stay in dysfunctional relationships.

My mum would like Delta. Enough said.
loading...
Ah…that’s her name. Susie Eisman. I’ve seen her on one of those morning talk shows and I’m always STUNNED by her fantastic makeup!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
loading...
It’s actually Susie ELELMAN – long time red carpet highjacker, looking a little more subtle this time around!
loading...
I didn’t have time to go through the photos (only got to 60) but there was a lack of Brynne! Was she there? Her dress is the only one I care about.
loading...
Channel 7 made Brynne go to dancing with the stars, so nine could cash in on her appearance.
No Brynne this year.
