There’s big babies, and then there’s THIS big baby.
A teen mum in India has recently given birth to her 15-pound daughter, who is believed to be the heaviest baby girl ever born. How big is 15 pounds, you ask? It’s the equivalent of a typical six-month-old.
Wowza. That’s a whole “lotta baby”.
Of the mammoth-sized baby, local doctor Venkatesh Raju said: “In my 25 years of experience, I had never seen such a big baby. She is a miracle. I believe she is not only the heaviest baby born in India but the heaviest baby girl ever born in the world.”
The little girl (if you can call her that) is said to be double the size of the average newborn, and delivered via c-section (thankfully for mum). Her mother, Nandini, is just 19 years old.
The bub — who is currently unnamed — has allegedly overtaken the current world record holder Carisa Rusack from Massachusetts, who weighed in at 14lb 5oz at the time of her birth.

It was a c-section delivery. I don't know why the story doesn't give that detail. I think the carrying of the baby in the final trimester would have been the hardest part. I wonder what her belly looked like in the final week?
I am curious what makes a baby of a petite woman turn out so big? Does it mean the little girl in a few years will be a big girl, or likely to be an average sized kid?
You say that as if a c-section isn't just as gruelling and exhausting as labour!
Although I am quite tall, 178cm, all my children were born very big and are normal sized adults.

43 hour labour and normal delivery, not a tear or stitch needed, jumped up off the table 30 min after the birth to take a shower, home the next day. I was also 19 at the time. Midwife said large babies often are long labours and I delivered on all fours, also her suggestion to save tearing.
You are lucky!! Most babies go into feral distress well before that point.
I am sooooo glad I had a smaller baby (7 pounds!).
I think being young might have helped, all of my children were very big,the smallest 10lbs 10oz, and all were similar deliveries. Midwife did say that my placenta was extraordinarily large and probably contributed to their weight. I was also horrendously struck down with morning sickness, another attribute the midwife said was from a large placenta. But none of them were stressed and all have grown into normal sized adults.
Perhaps. My friend had a 12 pounder at 22 and that was 24 hours of labouring and then an emergency c section. I honestly believe it's genetics and luck.
