Six of our all-time favourite freebies. Because everyone loves free things.

I am the queen of freebies. I know how to get so many things for free. My frugal ways started out as a necessity when I was sick of missing out on fun things because I’d run out of money. Now, I find it fun. There is so much on offer out there that you can access for free. Why not try some of it out?

Here are my 6 all-time favourite freebies.

Enjoy!

Just as an FYI, you should know that this post is sponsored by . But all opinions expressed by the author are 100% authentic and written in their own words.

1. Free cosmetics

Beauty and cosmetic companies want you to try their products for free, and why wouldn’t you? They can be really expensive so you really should try them before you commit to buying them.

Whenever I hear about a new product I always try a sample first. I go to my local department store and ask for a sample and unless they’ve run out, they are normally happy to give you one. They usually give me a few other samples too. They know that the best way to get you as a customer is to make you love their product. So take advantage of this.

 2. Free prizes

I once heard a story about a couple who had made entering competitions a kind of business. They would subscribe to all the magazines and spend time entering all the competitions. They became so good at doing entries that they started winning so many things. Sometimes they’d keep them, sometimes they’d use them as gifts and sometimes they’d sell them.

I decided to start doing this myself. I enter every competition I can. Don’t be afraid to give some personal details. Most good competitions will ask for permission to ring you with other offers, or do as I do when this isn’t the case – put in a fake number. So far I’ve won a kettle, a double movie pass and lots of vouchers.

3. Free food

I love going to food fairs, festivals and markets. The free food and drink samples on offer are so amazing.

I started doing this six years ago in uni whenever I got sick of eating noodles. So many food events are free and by sampling food and drinks at lots of stalls you end up eating the equivalent of a meal.

I’ve never felt embarrassed to try samples because if I really love something, that’s what I’m spending my money on, but not until I’ve tried every single food on offer.

4. Free clothes

Want to know one of the best things about online shopping? It’s making wrong choices. So many times clothes arrive and are nothing like what I thought they’d be. They don’t suit me, they don’t fit me or I just hate them. So once every couple of months my friends and I do a clothes swapping party. I walk away with a whole new wardrobe.

We all turn up with any clothes and shoes we don’t want. Some are new, some are just items we’re sick of. We swap new clothes and used clothes and it’s a completely free way to get some new fashion items.

5. Free hair cuts

I live near a beauty school where they teach hairdressing and beauty. One of my friends at the time was doing a course and asked if I’d be a hair model for her for class and I happily agreed. Since then I’ve been getting my hair done for free.

I’ve gotten to know the school and they know I’m happy to have things done to my hair. Normally it’s just cutting and colours and you don’t have to worry about them ruining your hair because there are fully qualified hairdressers supervising everything the students do.

There are also beautician courses that need models for waxing, facials and nails. I get most of it done for free or for a brilliant discount and save heaps.
