Ben Fordham's 'Today' show replacement announced.

Ben Fordham’s Today show replacement was announced on Twitter today.

While we are sad to see Ben go, it looks like his shoes will be well-filled.

By fellow Today show presenter Tim Gilbert.

Gilbert has been seen as the sports presenter and host on the Weekend Today show and is often seen on the Channel Nine programme during the week. He has been with Channel Nine for nearly twenty years, dating back to his first appearances in 1996. Ben, who leaves the show at the end of this year, took to Twitter to spread the news, congratulating Tim on joining the team in 2015.

Ben, who is expecting his first child with wife Jodie Speers, announced in March that he is leaving the show to focus on radio commitments. “Jodie has been incredibly understanding with my work arrangement but I need to be realistic about what I can do and how long I can do it.”

Congratulations and best of luck to Tim.

Love Ben. Tim seems a nice guy too.

Now, Richard Wilkins ... the other day the Madden brothers were performing and Richard asked someone in the audience the name of their latest single. The wit replied, 'We are dumb.'

Wilkins called the person a nincompoop, and, to me, NOT in a nice/joking way. He sounded pissed. So sorry, Richard, if a nonfamous, great unwashed, not at all important person DARED to offend such important celebrities (heavy sarcasm!) but you sounded like a tool.

Note to Richard: most Australians don't give a proverbial about famous people. They are no better, and often much worse, than us and singers and morning tv presenters are much less important in our lives than nurses, doctors, scientists, teachers, cops, ambos etc etc etc etc. You're all VERY far down the list and you do not 'frame public opinion,' as so many of you deludedly believe.
