The trailer for the sixth season of Game of Thrones has been dropped and it’s giving us tingles as big as dire wolves.
The exact date for the release is April 24th so don’t worry, you have until April 23 to get Foxtel.
The clip opens with your classic cinematic pan, starting in the great smoky hills of CGI software before crossing down across the dead (?) body of Jon Snow lying in the cold… snow.
The accompanying track is the soft and soothing tones of James Vincent McMorrow’s ‘Wicked Games’.
Opening the season with our favourite broody beau and a song that literally says, ‘what a wicked game you play, to make me feel this way’ is a cheap blow, HBO.
Continuing the theme of sad scenes set to sadder songs:
We have a dull and defeated Daenerys Targaryen, a Cersei Lannister whose hair is cropped closer than her dating pool and a Sansa Stark who seems awfully cheerful to hear she’s now a member of the Great Game.
Sansa, honey, haven’t you been watching seasons 1 – 5? You have more chance of dying than our next prime minister has of being ousted. I would have stayed in the forest.
Speaking of dying, our darling Bran Stark is looking very much alive standing in front of a very much dead White Walker.
The beat drops in the second half of the clip and suddenly we’re flipping between battle scenes and sex scenes like: battle, sex, battle, sex, battle, Yara kissing a girl?, battle.

We still know nothing of Jon Snow… but he was spotted on set six months ago.
I’m feeling positive and where GoT is concerned, that’s just asking for it.
