All the weird, wonderful fashions we can expect to see at tomorrow's VMAs.

The MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) are known for being much more eccentric than your average, formal awards ceremonies.

Other than the eyebrow-raising performances (such as the time Miley Cyrus twerked all over Robin Thicke) the most talked about aspect of the VMAs is usually the fashion.

Much like the event itself, celebrities tend to err on the side of wacky when it comes to choosing their outfits. Unlike a formal awards ceremony, anything goes at the VMAs — and I mean ANYTHING.

Check out some of the most unique outfits from the 2015 MTV Music Video Awards. (Post continues after gallery.)

Miley Cyrus was the ceremony’s host, and outrageous outfits are her speciality.

The singer didn’t disappoint; she had a whopping 15 costume changes and each look was as, erm, creative as the next. From sparkly leotards to a latex dress with the words “do it” literally popping out of the fabric, Cyrus’ outfits were never predictable.

Meanwhile on the red carpet there were lots of crop top and pant combinations, incredibly sheer dresses and sequins as far as the eye could see.

Some celebrities chose to wear less outrageous outfits. Take a look at some of our favourite red carpet moments at the 2015 MTV VMAs. (Post continues after gallery.)

Some highlights of the more wearable looks at the 2015 MTV VMAs included Demi Lovato’s stunning form-fitting pink and silver mini dress and Kris Jenner’s black maxi dress.

We cannot wait to see what the celebrities come up with for this year’s MTV VMAs.

They start on Sunday night in New York City, which translates to 9am AEST on Monday.
