If you’re a Friends fan, you probably think you know Rachel, Phoebe, Monica, Chandler, Ross and Joey pretty well. But it turns out that Courtney Cox and Jennifer Aniston were once mysteriously replaced by lookalike actors – and nobody ever realised.
Until now.
The blooper involving Jennifer Aniston was from Episode 15, The One with the Mugging, from Series Nine, and was first reported by Recently Heard.
A few minutes into the episode, Rachel walks into Monica’s apartment to tell Joey that he got an audition with actor Leonard Hayes, played by Jeff Goldblum. Suddenly, Aniston is gone - and is replaced in a split-second shot by a lookalike wearing a completely different outfit.
Whoops...
But that's not the only time a fake character made it on air. In the Season 8 episode, The One With Rachel's Date, Phoebe is filmed sitting on the Central Perk couch chatting with Monica.
The camera cuts between the actors as they chat - only for a fake Monica to appear for a few seconds. Epic fail.
Apparently, many TV shows use stand-in actors that resemble the main characters during filming, but they are never supposed to actually go to air.

The scenes were filmed in 2001, and it's amazing that it took 14 years for the truth to come out. Seriously - how did we not notice this before?
