Radio host chokes up over emotional Mothers' Day surprise.

Nova breakfast radio hosts Fitzy and Wippa have been left misty eyed after playing good fairies to one lucky mum ahead of Mother’s Day.

Speaking on air this morning, the pair told the story of how they had helped one lucky mum named Sandy be reunited with her daughter Jess, who currently lives in the UK.

“She hasn’t seen her mum, Fitzy, for two years,” Wippa said to his co-host.

But, one airfare, 16,000 kilometres and some serious scheming later, Sandy’s surprise was just around the corner.

The plan was hatched by telling Sandy that Jess had entered a Nova competition to win a day spa package for Mother’s Day and won.

Upon arrival, Sandy was handed an iPad with a message from Jess, wishing her a happy Mother's Day and an apology that she couldn't be there for the special day.

After listening to the moving message, Sandy was taken into a treatment room where she lay down on a table and had a towel placed over her eyes.

After a moment alone, "masseuse" Jess entered the room, asking her mum what brought her here in a disguised voice.

"I've got a pampering session from my daughter for Mother's Day," Sandy said before adding, "she's in London."

Continuing the probing, undercover Jess asked, “What would you say if you’re daughter was here today?”

“One huge thank you,” her unsuspecting mum replied.

“Well ... you’re welcome,” Jess said.

Clearly confused and still unable to see at this point Sandy asked, “What?”

“You’re welcome,” Jess repeated.

With that, the towel was off and the pair were reunited, both bursting into tears within seconds.

“I can’t believe it!” the surprised mum screamed. “Can you stay? Can you stay forever?”

Watching on from the Nova studio Fitzy turned to his cohost saying, “I am getting a bit emotional and choked up”.

We hope Sandy and Jess, and all the mums and daughters out there have a great Mother's Day this Sunday.
