11 once-adorable child stars who grew up to be smoking hot.

Prepare to feel about one million years old – because these child stars? They are NOT kids any more.

In my head, Dakota Fanning is still around 11-years-old and when I hear the name ‘Emma Watson’ I think Harry Potter, not The Perks of Being a Wallflower or the Burberry trenchcoat.

But somehow, these 11 former child stars have grown up when we weren’t looking.

1. Emma Watson.

She used to be a frizzy-haired kid, but Hermione Granger’s long gone now.

Emma Watson is now 25-years-old. She’s studied at Brown and Oxford universities. She has helped create a line of clothing. She’s certified to teach yoga and meditation. Oh, and she’s also a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador and helped launch the HeForShe campaign, which fights for gender equality.

She really is the “brightest witch of her age”.

2. Drew Barrymore.

We loved her as a kid in E.T. We worried about her when she battled drug and alcohol problems. We cheered for her during her ’00s revival (Josie Grossey, anyone?)

And now? We admire her for growing into a healthy, happy, gorgeous businesswoman and mum of two.

She was also named as an Ambassador Against Hunger for the UN World Food Programme and she has donated more than US$1 million to the program. So yeah, she’s doing pretty well for herself.

3. Molly Ringwald.

Molly Ringwald ruled the ’80s, and she grew into one genetically-blessed woman. But apart from The Breakfast ClubSixteen CandlesPretty in Pink and other cinematic masterpieces, we love her most for constantly calling out sexism and sticking up for feminism.

4. Anna Chlumsky.

Sure, My Girl might have been around for 24 years now – but we still can’t think of that movie without feeling the urge to ugly-cry. Anna, who played the neurotic Vada Sultenfuss, went from cute child star to super attractive woman, and went on to study at the University of Chicago. Over the years she’s been committed to making independent films but has recently returned to mainstream TV in the HBO series Veep. Yas.

5. Hilary Duff.

If you were a kid or tween in the early ’00s, you were a Lizzie Maguire fan. And that photogenic kid became one photogenic woman. These days Hils is busy raising her son and has spoken out about the body image pressures placed on young women in the entertainment industry.

6. Soleil Moon Frye.

She began acting as an adorable 2-year-old and is best known for her role as Punky Brewster. Over the years she lost her cute freckles and became a smart, attractive and successful mother of three. She recently opened a kids’ organic clothing shop, has written a book and hosts a blog about parenting and women’s issues.

7. Natalie Portman.

Let’s be real here – a kid with bone structure that impressive was always going to be an impossibly beautiful woman. But we really love Nat because she’s one of those people who are so accomplished it’s scary. She’s a Harvard graduate, an Oscar winner, a mother and an animal rights and anti-poverty advocate. Meanwhile, we struggle to find the time to wash our hair…

8. Jessica Alba.

If you’ve got eyes, you’ll know Jess is a hottie – even in her “daggy” ’90s Alex Mack days, she was gorgeous. Apart from always seeming like an uber-happy, caring and nice person, we love Jessica for being a devoted mum AND for the ridiculous amount of charities she supports.

9. Christina Ricci.

Christina WAS the ’90s. She always seemed to play those goth, slightly kooky roles and she’ll always be Wednesday Addams to us. Christina is now all grown up – she’s a mum, and is also the national spokesperson for the Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network.

10. Anna Paquin.

She used to be that cute little Kiwi from The Piano, and is now a bona fide hottie with a fetish for sexy, sexy vampires.

Plus, she’s a gay rights activist – in 2010, she announced she was bisexual for the Give a Damn campaign as part of the True Colours Fund, which is a group that fights for LGBT equality.

11. Caitlin Stasey.

The Sleepover Club days are long gone – now, Caitlin Stasey is a successful (and mega attractive) grown up actress who also runs her own website, herself.com. She’s also an extremely vocal feminist and LGBT activist who is passionate about fighting gender stereotypes and censorship.
