Chris Brown's ex-girlfriend files restraining order claiming he threatened to kill her.

Abuse claims against US singer Chris Brown have been made public, as a judge orders him to stay away from ex-girlfriend, model Karrueche Tran.

Tran alleged the 27-year-old punched her in the stomach, pushed her down the stairs and later threatened to kill her, the BBC reports.

A Los Angeles court granted Tran’s temporary restraining order request, according to documents made public on Tuesday.

The model, who dated Brown in 2015, said the attack mentioned happened several years ago, but that she did not call the police.

She said she filed the restraining order because Brown had recently sent her threatening texts.

"He told a few people that he was going to kill me. He said if no one else can have me, he's gonna 'take me out,'" Tran was quoted in court papers.

"I have text messages from December 2016 to January 2017 where he's made several threats including beating me up and making my life hell."

The alleged assault is the latest in a series of run-ins with authorities and claims of abuse made against the rapper.

Following his much-publicised attack on singer ex-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009, Brown was accused of punching a woman who tried to take a photo of him in a Las Vegas hotel in January 2016, something he denied.

In August last year, Brown was in a several-hour standoff with police at his LA home where he allegedly threatened a woman with a gun - a claim he also denied.
