Everyone dreads the Bad Hair Day (BHD). You wake up, your hair is flat/frizzy/downright bleurgh and no amount of shaping or styling seems to lift it out of its slump.

Yesterday, Zoe Foster-Blake had one of those days. Fortunately, rather than hide under a hat (or rock), she decided to share on Instagram her emergency steps for banishing BHDs for good.

Step 1. Acceptance

The first? Acknowledging you have a problem.

“Have a big, drooling beast of a work day and also flat stupid hair just to compound things even though you are heading out and need it to pull its godamn finger out,” she wrote. We feel you, Zoe.

Step 2. Make Waves

To breathe life back into your hair, add some shape with a curling tong. Foster-Blake’s weapons of choice? The Evo Hair Icon Welder and the GHD Creative Curl Wand.

Don’t fret though – it doesn’t involve sitting in front of a mirror for an hour while your arms ache.

“Be lazy, random, fast; ignore the fact they are flat and bridesmaidy. Let them set/cool for 10 minutes,” she advises. (Watch: Hide your bad hair day with Kim Kardashian inspired braids. Post continues after video.)

Step 3. Add magic dust.

Alright, so volume powder is not quite magic dust, but thank to the results it gives it may as well be. Simply sprinkle all over the scalp and through the mid ends and massage in with your fingers. (Post continues after gallery)

Step 4. Celebrate.

“Celebrate better hair with self-conscious, slightly moronic expression. Feel smug knowing it will be good for a couple of days,” Foster-Blake says.

“Have some chips (Light and Tangy preferably) cos you’ve earned them.”

Don’t you worry Zoe, we will.

How do you save your hair from a bad hair day?
