Yummy Mummies star Maria says her partner put her on a diet while pregnant.

Yummy Mummies star Maria Di Geronimo says her partner Carlos Vannini put her on a diet to keep “my body in shape” while she was pregnant.

The 29-year-old, who features alongside three other mums-to-be in Channel Seven’s new reality TV series, told New Idea the father of her daughter, Valentina, had devised what was essentially a plan to keep her thin.

“When I was pregnant Carlos started this meal prep thing which helped me keep my body in shape,” the Adelaide woman said.

“He researched what I needed to eat and cooked it up; they’re portion-controlled meals. He believes that’s what will keep my metabolism fast and in check,” she said.

The now mum-of-one told the magazine that she eats organic food, but doesn’t “really do fitness” besides the occasional brisk walk.

Yummy Mummies, which premiered on Sunday night, follows the lives of Maria and Melbourne mums Lorinska Merrington, Rachel Watts and Jane Scandizzo during their pregnancies.

Entertainment Editor Laura Brodnik speaks to Rachel Watts from Yummy Mummies on The Binge about what it was really like to film the show. (Post continues below.)

So far Maria has stunned her castmates by showing off a wardrobe full of clothes she has bought for her daughter at every age up until she’s 14 years old and raised eyebrows as she plans an epic baby shower.

On Instagram, she advised viewers not to take the show too seriously.

“For the people taking the show yummy mummies too seriously – don’t. Carlos and I clearly don’t,” she wrote next to a screenshot of a conversation with Carlos.

“It’s meant to be light entertainment or it wouldn’t be on TV.”

“I’m so excited to relive my journey (the ups and downs) because as I write this I look up and smile at my Princess smiling back at me. BLESSED.”

Talk about control! And it's a sort of abuse...she might be ok with this but I find it raises a whole lot of red flags. There's care like cooking meals etc and then there's control like this

I'm pregnant now, and I WISH my husband would do that for me! Home cooked healthy meals ready and waiting without me even having to think about it? Oh god yes!!

Home cooked, healthy meals? Yep, I'm on board with that, but if the douche-canoe from the articles sole reason for organising the meals was so so didn't gain weight...no! Just no.
