Daily OMG. Would this ad actually make anyone cheat?

Jacqueline the model who appears in the Ashley Madison has spoken out about her image and the picture that was used. Jezebel reports

I am the owner and model of the BBW website www.juicyjackie.com. It is tailored to the tastes of those that love big women, their curves, rolls and all the plush softness that comes with being fat.

Years ago, before my modeling career began in earnest, a photographer friend of mine arranged an informal photo session. I was under the impression at the time that people purchasing these photos from the photographer would be doing so for their own personal use. I had no idea that the photographer would endeavor to sell the photos to corporations and/or stock photo companies, who would then go on, repeatedly, to use them in rude and mocking ways.

I am mortified that my image and likeness would be used as advertisement for two things I am so vehemently against: namely cheating and, to an even greater extent, body shaming.

After Jacqueline’s message went live, Jezebel received this response from Ashley Madison founder and CEO Noel Biderman:

“The best thing that could’ve happened to this woman is that we used her in our ad. Despite what she may want you to think, she is reaping the press for her own pornography website. She took these pictures and signed the release knowing that they were not just for ‘personal use.’ However, if she can get great publicity from this, all the power to her.”

Okay so now I am even more appalled.

Every so often we see something that makes us stop and blink for a moment. So welcome to a regular post called OMG where we shine a spotlight on something that really is WTF (if you see something that ticks these boxes that you think we should know about, please email us any time info@mamamia.com.au).

Like this ad for Ashley Madison, the notorious online dating agency for people who are already in a relationship.  The ad appeared in The New York Metro last week. It is just one in a series of  blatantly sexist, hideous and discriminatory ads.

I am not sure I have the words to say how offensive I find these ads, so I’ll leave it up to you. And the morality of a website that puts forward cheating as an answer to marriage problems?

This ad was rejected from the Superbowl spot

But this one made it

Here’s a sample of some of their other, er brilliant campaigns

Hahahaha. Excellent. Blatant misandry. Well done Ms. Freedman.

Tell me Ms. Freedman, do females find a morbidly obese man SEXY? What am I asking you for? Hands up all the females who think morbidly obese men are SEXY and you couldn’t wait to have sex with him?
Now, hands up all those who think morbidly obese men are SCARY rather than sexy?

Whilst you recognise that men will fk anything, I could never get it up with that lump of lard. And it’s not just looks either. I couldn’t get it up for you either since I have to like my prey. And you know what? I AM PERFECTLY ENTITLED TO FEEL THAT WAY. It is NOT appalling. What is appalling is that this female has doubled her chances of breast cancer and increased her risk of type 2 Diabetis by 170%.

If you had seen the interview on the Today show with Lisa Wilkinson you would have learned;
1.The business is going great guns and there are more married females registered than men. Does that make these females appalling? Of course not, they are forced into it by men. It’s completely different even though it’s the same thing. Men just don’t GET equality, do they Ms Freedman.
2.There are people who are trapped. You can well believe how a female is trapped and won’t leave even though she gets the shit bashed out of her but you can’t understand why a man can’t leave. Would that be a fair understanding of your position?
There was some old lady writing in to Women’s Weekly who said she had stayed with her husband all these years because even though she did not get all the sex she wanted there were many other advantages. Of course, she had dalliances along the way just for the sex. Is this female APPALLING or what? Rather than leave and have to pay her own bills she CHEATS on him on MULTIPLE occasions. Aren’t females just appalling. Of course not. Females can’t make their own decisions in life. Men force them into everything. Is that whale APPALLING for setting up her own PORN site to sell her body? We know that what she is doing is terrible for kids and is responsible for the degradation of society. Have you written a complaint to her? No? How can that be? I thought you were passionate about saving the little children.

I agree with a lot of ppl commenting saying why have an affair?

If yr marriage is crap & yr unhappy - get a divorce then go get back on the dating scene or whatever.

But don't cheat. That's crazy! And immature.
