1. Mystery surrounds death of “kindhearted” student who washed up fully-clothed on a Sydney beach.

Police are still searching the Sydney coastline for a missing man after Shristi Bhandari’s fully-clothed body was found washed up on Maroubra beach on Tuesday morning.

The 23-year-old student was having a fresh start in Australia, having only arrived  two weeks ago from Nepal to study a Masters of Accounting as an international student, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.

Her heartbroken family have launched a fundraiser to help them take her body back to Nepal.

“Her friends and relatives are joining hands in this tragic event and request everyone to help as much as we can to retrieve the innocent life lost yesterday in Sydney,” the GoFundMe page reads.

“She was a kindhearted and radiant person and we are all so shocked and saddened by her untimely demise.”

Friends have began posting tributes on social media, describing Shristi as a “beautiful soul”.

“I can’t believe this could happen…You are an absolute angel…even death can’t dim your shine,” one friend wrote on Facebook.

Police say her death is not being treated as suspicious. They believe Shristi and her friend, 26-year-old Sudeep Uprety, were swept off rocks by a large wave.

Uprety has not been seen since, and is feared to have drowned. A large-scale search has now entered its third day.

2. Police issue desperate plea for information on missing Perth schoolgirl.

Police are appealing for information about missing 15-year-old Perth schoolgirl Kandi Hewitt, who has been missing for six months, Perth Now reports.

WA Police and the Department for Child Protection said they have “serious concerns” for the 15-year-old, who was last seen in September in the Hamilton Hill area.

Kandi is described as 165cm tall, and of slim build. She has blonde hair.

Police believe she may be being harboured by friends in Bassendean, Midland or Herne Hill.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

3. 16-year-old girl among three charged over planned terror attack on Eiffel Tower.

A 16-year-old girl and two others have been charged with terrorism offences after they developed a plot to attack the Eiffel Tower, The Telegraph reports.

The girl, known only as Sara, and her boyfriend, 20-year-old Thomas Sauret were charged with making and possessing explosives. Police found the devices in the couple’s home.

The pair were also charged with criminal association for terrorist purposes along with another 33-year-old man, who police suspect was assisting them.

When police arrested Sara, she allegedly told investigators she regretted her involvement and cried while being questioned.

She said the couple had planned to have an Islamic wedding ceremony before her boyfriend blew himself up at the Eiffel Tower. She was then supposed to travel to Syria to join Isil as a “martyr’s widow”.

4. Sydney chiropractor fined for telling patients he could ‘cure cancer’.

A Sydney chiropractor has been convicted of false advertising and fined $29,500 after claiming he could could prevent, treat and cure cancer, The Guardian reports.

Dr Hance Limboro was sentenced at the Downing Centre local court in Sydney after pleading guilty to 13 charges filed by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.

Mr Limboro’s website claimed that “a natural cancer cure…is chiropractic treatment”.

The chiropractor promoted his treatments as an alternative for other life-saving treatments like chemotherapy and radiation.

It is the first time a chiropractor has faced court and been convicted of false advertising.

5. It’s official: Rumor the German Shephard is the best dog in the world.

Five-year-old German Shepherd Rumor has beaten out seven other canines to be named the Top Dog (aka Best In Show) at the prestigious Westminster Dog Show in New York City.

Rumor – who was named after singer Adele’s smash hit Rumour Has It – was handed the prestigious honour at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night, The New York Times reports.

“She is just magnificent,” best-in-show judge Thomas Bradley said of Rumor’s well-deserved win.

Handler and co-owner Kent Boyles said that now Rumor has taken out the top prize, she was ready to “relax for a while”.

“We’ll find an appropriate husband for her. There will be some puppies in the future,” he said.

It’s the 39th time a female dog has won the Best in Show prize at the competition.

6. 12-year-old boy arrested for terrorising a shop employee with toy gun.

A 12-year-old boy has been arrested at a Parramatta shopping centre in western Sydney after he allegedly used a toy gun to threaten a centre employee.

Authorities searched the boy’s bag after he allegedly took the replica gun out to harass a staffer, 9 News reports.

Police allege they also found a knife in the boy’s bag. He has since been charged with being armed with intent to commit an indictable offence, having custody of a knife in a public place and shoplifting.

He is due to appear in a children’s court tomorrow.
