A Brooklyn woman is suing New York City for releasing a man who allegedly slashed her across the face while she was walking to work in January.
Amanda Morris, 25, was about a block from her supermarket job when a stranger, suspected to be Kari Bazemore, 42, snuck up behind her wielding a sharp object and sliced her under her nose.

“Today was a difficult day that I never thought I would have to go through,” Morris wrote on her Facebook at the time.
"I was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time and put in an unfortunate situation."
She claimed the attack was "unprovoked", but said she had a bad feeling about the man the moment she saw him.
"His walk was irregular and he appeared under the influence by his body language and stance,” she wrote.
"Always, always trust your gut instincts."
The disturbing incident was captured on CCTV, which police later used to identified Bazemore.
Bazemore, who suffers from paranoid schizophrenia, had been arrested 31 times before his alleged assault on Morris, according to Yahoo 7.
Among other similar offences, he was previously accused of smashing a 43-year-old woman in the face with a bottle and calling her a "white bitch".
Yet, in spite of his history of violence and the slew of charges against him Bazemore he is now walking free after having been discharged from a Health and Hospitals Corporation facility.
Morris, who required 150 stitches after the attack, is suing New York City for US $13.7 million for allowing his release.
According to the city's Law Department said her complaint "is under review".

People like this used to be put in residential facilities. But the bleeding heart liberals pushed the idea that these people have a right to autonomy and right to personal freedom, so the facilities were all closed down and these people now live on the streets and have become the problem of the ERs and prison system. At least in the facilities they were fed, clothed, clean, and medicated, and there for their own safety (mentally ill are much more likely to be victims of violence than perpetrators) and that of the general public.
