This is why Shaynna Blaze always wears black while filming The Block.

If there is anything we have learnt about Shaynna Blaze over her eight seasons as a judge on The Block, it’s that:

(a) She has impeccable taste.

(b) She rocks a structured jacket.

(c) She only wears black.

Seriously. It’s back-to-back black on black. And once you notice it, you can’t unsee it:

Take a look at all of Shaynna’s outfits from this season. We’re noticing a common theme… Post continues below.

So, as someone who works on TV, where hosts are expected to pop with colour all day long, why does the interior designer eschew bright shades?

On the latest episode of our new lifestyle podcast Can’t Live Without, where experts take us through the must-have’s of their everyday lives, Shaynna explains:

Because when she offers styling advice, she has to maintain her impartial expert status.

She needs to act completely neutral in the offering up of colour choices. It’s her style ninja move. So whether she’s at work styling, judging rooms on The Block, or offering up advice on Selling Houses Australia, the 53 year old says she doesn’t want her personal taste to be the focus.

“If I’m wearing something that’s pink and all of a sudden I suggest pink for them, they go, ‘she’s only doing that because she likes it.'”

“[Black is] my neutral base,” she says.

So far we’ve only spotted one time where the reality TV judge broke her cardinal rule.

She's lucky that is a beeyoootiful skirt, and it's bathroom week - no brown leather couches to clash with. We'll let this one slide, Shaynna.
