Best and worst bits of the week

As usual, it’s been a big week on Mamamia. Just today we have farewelled Elizabeth Taylor, talked about whether it’s still necessary to have a daddy for your baby and looked at some catwalk trends you probably won’t be trying. And over the course of the week, we’ve talked about everything from our hobbies and Twitter to homosexuality apps and what we feel most guilty about.

We’ve also discussed whether or not Julia Gillard should attend the royal wedding, read a beautiful post about love by Catherine Deveny, talked about defining yourself by your weight, and debated whether or not you should inform your employer of your future baby plans.

Phew. Now it’s time for best and worst. If you’ve never posted before, why not post this week? And don’t forget to tell us what’s on your mind.

As for me..

Best: The Oscar party I went to on Saturday night

Worst: My hangover on Sunday

What about you – what were your best and worst bits of the week?

And here are the pics we’re talking about this week…

This is just too funny not to share:

"Last week, Michael Gove said that children should read 50 books a year. For grown-ups anxious to keep up, Iain Hollingshead offers some tongue-in-cheek literary advice "

I particularly like:

"21 Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert - Eat, pray, love, wallow, whine, travel, indulge, write, check bank account."

"42 - Jordan: Pushed to the Limit by Katie Price - Disappointingly thin on insights into the Hashemite Kingdom east of Israel. "

Best: One of my Year 9 students was complaining about learning poetry - "It's so boring" he wailed. I knew he was into horror movies so I brought in a couple of Edgar Allen Poe's poems for him....and.... One more kid converted to the wonders of poetry! Win!!

Worst: All this stuff about 'purity balls', pledging your virginity and waxing eight year old girls....Too awful.
