Some brides have a sea theme, others country chic... this bride had death.

Weddings. A magical time to celebrate the union of two individuals. Where two hearts come together to seal a deep, lifelong commitment and guests gather to share in the joy of love.

For many couples a wedding is a special chance to express who they are to their loved ones.

Except there’s the teensiest little problem: more often that not, the person you are today isn’t necessarily the person you will be in the future. Trends change. Your mind changes. You grow up, decide you hate things you previously loved. Decide you probably can’t spend your 40s wearing hypercolour t-shirts, driving a Sportgirl Barina, listening to Spice Girls.

The most adorable-cool wedding dance ever.

Which is why I when I saw a friend planning a wedding with bejeweled skulls as the centrepiece I thought to myself: ‘You’re probably going to regret that.’

Don’t believe she was actually going to use SKULLS at her wedding. Check this out:

Skulls right now are FARSHION. And right now, brides out there are gagging for a bit of grim death and mortality as the centrepiece at their wedding.

See, farsssssshion:

In some ancient societies crystal skulls can represent life. They mean “the honoring of humanity in the flesh and the embodiment of consciousness.” Except, we’re not really an ancient society, are we? We’re hardly Mesopotamia. So skulls for anyone living in 2015, mean death and evil. So if you want to be running around in your wedding dress having that conversation with every guest, (‘They mean LIFE, Auntie Margaret. THEY MEAN LIFE AND THE HONORING OF HUMANITY IN THE FLESH AND THE EMBODIMENT OF CONSCIOUSNESS!!!!’) just know that you will be very red in the face by the end.

It’s tough to have a truly classic wedding because to some extent, all weddings are going to date. And part of the fun is being able to look back and wonder why you insisted on using splades, drinking shandies and putting your bridesmaids in pink rah-rah dresses.

So this calls for a gallery, chums. A gallery of weddings that down the track we will laugh and say “remember when we put dead people’s heads on the table? HA!”

As a woman in her mid thirties who has always been fascinated with death, mortality and the meaning of life, I love that skull and a lot of the pictures in the gallery.
I don't think that I would end up regretting having a skull themed wedding. As it stands, I had a very unconventional wedding and I don't regret that. People have different tastes and not everyone wants the big fairy tale white and pretty flowered wedding or one of those simple beach weddings. Some people have different interests and want to reflect that.
The Author needs to understand that we all have different preferences and what some people find repulsive, others find beautiful.

I would probably do something similar, in all honesty. I think it looks great!
