Five ways to wear your at-home clothes in public (without anyone noticing).

We’ve been looking for ways to make comfortable clothes fashionable since whoever invented the “toga” — which, however you look at it, is a sheet.

Still, ask most women and they’ll tell you they have “at home” clothes and “going out” clothes.

Depending on their category, our clothes get very different treatments: the fancy dress goes on a scented hanger that takes up the wardrobe space of five T-shirts; the track pants stay crumpled up on the floor.

In the spirit of equality, it’s time to give your at-homers an outing. Like Marie Kondo says, respect all your clothes, treat them with love. Show them a good time.

Watch: Paula Joye explains how to winter-fy your wardrobe. Post continues after video.

Sportluxe, athleisure, sleepwear-as-daywear—you can buy on-trend pieces at most stores.

Hot tip: you can also probably just find them under your bed.

1. Your track pants are actually an aggressively cool statement piece.

Just add jewellery, layer a shirt, tousle your hair, and you’re good to go.

In fact, you can dress up this look in general simply by adding things: a coat, a scarf, a clutch or three, and of course, large sunglasses.

2. Don’t diss your leggings.

Who cares if Kim Kardashian is on her way to the gym in this photo (to be honest, the caption does leave it kind of ambiguous)? She looks like some kind of futuristic space queen, in clothes that literally all of us own.

It’s time to leave the “Are leggings pants or not?” debacle behind us. No one really cares if they are or not — they are stretchy, and easy to move in, and look hella good.

3. When in doubt, add a nightie.

Nighties are definitely having a moment. Or, if you want to use the technical term, “slip dresses” — but let’s call a spade a nightie.

They were great in the ’90s, and they’re great now. And they’re so adaptable. If you feel a bit naked, or “too evening” in your nightie alone, add a T-shirt underneath for a Winona Ryder vibe.

If that feels too casual, go the full dress shirt, as below. It shouldn’t work, but it does. Business nightie.

4. Rock a tasteful robe.

Man Repeller’s Leandra Medine is all about unexpected fashion combos. The caption below is perfect in so many ways.

Think of the silk robe as a Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress for those who are still weighing the possibility of going back to bed. Swap in floral kimono as desired.

5. Just wear your actual pajamas.

This is an actual thing and you are really allowed to wear pajamas outside, and even to fancy events.

Dolce & Gabbana said so. After a few seasons on the runway, people are actually starting to try this trend in real life. Oh, happy day.

What are your comfy clothes? Are you prepared to wear them in public?

The last one probably works best with your glamourous silk D&G pyjamas - not so much with your flannelette jobs from Best and Less!
