Jodie Foster has just delivered what is set to be the most talked-about speech in Golden Globes history.
The actress, whose career has spanned almost 50 years in cinema and television, spoke at the Golden Globes today after receiving the Cecil B. DeMille award for lifetime achievement.
Foster, who is best known for her performance as Iris, the pre-teen prostitute in Taxi Driver in 1976 and in Silence of the Lambs in 1991, brought the celebrity packed audience to tears as she talked about her sexuality, her children and her on-screen career.

I thought Jodie Foster was amazing - she looked strong, beautiful and classy. While her speech could have done with some editing - clearly she decided to off-the-cuff it without notes - there were some poignant moments that had the audience in tears, most notably her love for her family, her film crews and her profession.
What was also clear to me was her lack of respect for the current obsession with "baring it all" publicly. She openly acknowledged her co-parent and "ex partner in love" Cydney last night but beyond that she basically said that she hadn't spoken of her sexuality because, let's face it, it's nobody's business.
I didn't read anger from her speech - I just saw a strong, successful, intelligent woman who has successfully transitioned from child star to adult powerhouse movie mogul, and is justifiably proud of her career achievements. Respect.
I loved Jodie Foster's speech - there's so much glitz, glamour and make-believe in Hollywood. She was being real. How beautiful. What a woman.
