What a good morning!

Australia woke up this morning to two very smart women anchoring ABC’s morning show.

In the absence of Michael Rowland, Kumi Taguchi was co-host to Virginia Trioli on ABC News Breakfast this morning, and they made a quite a team.

Taguchi is a journalist with ABC News 24 and she’s previously co-anchored News Breakfast with Rowland.

Viewers loved the Trioli/Taguchi combination, taking to Twitter in droves to praise today’s line-up.

Is this the beginning of a brave new world, where women are allowed to anchor breakfast TV unhindered by men? Imagine a Sunrise with no Kochie? A Today without Karl? We can but dream.

Rowland was definitely feeling the pressure.

He must have been buoyed by the messages of reassurance he received on Twitter, though.

Over at Sky News, two women were running the breakfast show too with Laura Jayes and Nina Stevens at the desk.

Could the days of men dominating the small screen be coming to an end?

How strange that we can comment that two women (or two men) talking heads anchoring a news/panel program seems unusual. I'm sixty. My eldest grandchild is thirteen. I hope that long before she reaches sixty that no one bats an eyelid when a network picks one/two/three/"n" presenters from its stable of women and men and it always seems 'just right'.
