Tori Spelling's mum pays her bills - but refuses to pay Tori's $38k credit card debt.

Tori Spelling, 42, is a profligate spendthrift, at least according to her mother Candy Spelling, who is less than impressed with her daughter’s spending habits.

The younger Spelling is being sued for $38,000 in credit card debt she’s failed to repay to American Express.

Her mother — with whom Tori’s had a somewhat fractious relationship over the years — spoke to TMZ about her daughter’s financial problems.

She said she doesn’t know why Tori hasn’t paid the bill, but has a hunch: “Extravagance, I guess.”

Candy Spelling pays for all her daughter’s day-to-day needs.

“I’m paying all her bills now. I’m not paying extras like that, I’m not paying any back payments,” she said.

“Just for the house, and the kids’ school, and the food.” Oh, just those.

Tori and her husband Dean McDermott have been plagued by financial problems since their reality show was axed.

In one of her many books, she wrote “…as my real estate obsession persists, it’s starting to look more compulsive. Moving is expensive, and I’ve put us in a precarious financial situation.”

She claimed to be living a “simpler lifestyle”, which entailed using hand-me-down clothes for her kids, not spoiling them with lavish birthday parties, and not buying herself a new handbag in three years.

She has admitted, thought, that she can’t seem to let go of her “expensive tastes”.

Last year, she went on a terrible, terrible show called Celebrity Lie Detector and revealed she had inherited just (just) $800,000 of her father’s estimated $500 million estate when he died in 2006.

In 2013, McDermott apparently cheated on Spelling with a 28-year-old woman while in Canada, however some suspect the story was invented for ratings. The couple decided to document their relationship struggle in a six-part reality series called True Tori.

Spelling us currently working on James Franco’s remake of a Lifetime movie she starred in in 1996.

In Mother May I Sleep With Danger, Spelling played impressionable teen Laurel Lewisohn. In the remake, she’ll play the teen’s mother.

It sounds super kitsch and hilarious. And hopefully she’ll get a sizeable pay cheque for it.

I'm lacking sympathy...

I suspect this is the result of growing up with incredibly wealthy parents. I'm guessing she was probably given whatever she wanted when she was young, and never had to worry about things like 'budgets' or 'living within your means'. Now she obviously has no idea what she's doing. Perhaps she could do a reality show where a financial planner comes in and shows her how to manage her money? She could have some of those ladies from Extreme Couponing on, or some of the blogger mums who show how to raise a family on a budget!

Excellent idea.
I heard the debt was actually $55K. Maybe that was added interest?
