Torah Bright has won Australia’s first medal at the Sochi Olympic Games. The defending Olympic champion won a silver medal in the women’s halfpipe just after 5.30 AEST.

Bright had previously been critical of the course but said there had been a notable difference before competition began.

“They have been putting a lot of work in and it’s changed a lot.”

Torah crashed out on her first run, but after a hug from her brother Ben her second run was victorious.

Kaitlyn Farrington from the US won the gold and Kelly Clark ( US) won the Bronze.

GO TORAH! A MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS!

Kaitlyn Farrington won the Gold. There is a fine line when declaring a person who came second a winner.
