Leah Remini says Tom Cruise could "end Scientology" single-handedly.

Outspoken former Scientologist Leah Remini believes Tom Cruise could ‘end Scientology’.

The 46-year-old actress appeared on Real Time with Bill Maher to speak about her documentary series, Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath.

Remini, along with Maher, agreed that Cruise has an unrivaled influence over the organisation’s success – and that influence could be its downfall.

“He could end this single-handedly,” Maher suggested on his US TV show.

Remini spent 30 years in the Church, before leaving it last year and revealing some of its most shocking secrets.

As Mamamia previously reported, The Church of Scientology has hit back at Remini for speaking out against it, launching a website called “Leah Remini: Aftermath: After Money”.

Scientology and the Aftermath is SO juicy on The Binge.

“Leah Remini is in it for the money and now tries to pretend otherwise. Her claim on Today that, ‘I’m not going to get a dime,’ as executive producer of her new reality TV show is disingenuous. Ms. Remini obviously is being compensated for this show, just as she profited from her book,” the website reads.

“She needs to stop blaming the Church and others for all of her personal and professional setbacks and take responsibility.”

The site hosts a variety of videos and even a blog post that compares Remini to fellow ex-Scientologist, Amy Scobee. The blog lists five points of alleged commonality between the two, beginning with, “they both bust up marriages.”

Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath airs on Foxtel’s CI Network channel on Wednesdays at 9.30pm.
