Wondering how to get a bikini body this long weekend? It's pretty simple.

Turns out, getting a bikini body is actually pretty simple.

Most people have bought countless magazines that promise advice on how to get the perfect ‘beach body,’ – a quest akin to finding the Holy Grail – but this has to be advice I’ve ever seen:

How to get a bikini body: Put a bikini on your body.

It’s set to hit 30 degrees in many Australian cities this weekend and many of us are planning to head to the beach for the long weekend.

With Summer officially around the corner, you’ll start to see those inevitable articles on ‘How to get bikini ready’ or the best ‘Bikini body moves for your shape’.

Fitness guru Kayla Itsines has even built a successful business around the “bikini body” and advertising tactics regularly exploit women’s insecurities once the weather begins to warm up.

But wouldn’t it be great if they ran this image instead:

It’s a timely reminder about the importance of promoting a positive body image aesthetic this weekend.

Something we’re pretty fond of here at Mamamia.

I am a Plus size,, very PLUS, if the truth be told. I also happen to be no longer a Spring Chicken. I love clothes as all my family will tell you, my husband becomes tired of answering the door for the postman with parcels.
There are few items I can buy here, one of my biggest problems is lingerie. So little in the size of bra I need is available in Australia. It has to be imported. There have been times I have waited for months for a bra. That is just an ordinary every day one. I cannot buy anything that dips or is pretty & fashionable. They are just not available.
No local store has any, this includes Myers & Dvid Jones believe it or not.
There is a sensible chain now in Australia, Autograph, they are now selling pretty bras for Plus Size women but unfortunately for me, not in my cup size. They are listening to women.
Clothes, mostly I shop on the Internet, everywhere, For something really special you can look in the UK . There are good designers but the clothes are expensive & the shipping more so, usually 33 GBP at least.
Good fashion is best at IGIGI, I really should not tell everyone because I just would hate to meet some one wearing the same dress. They have good sales. Their postage is reasonable, no matter how many dresses you buy, same cost.
They are in L.A. everything they sell is made in USA & all their dresses are fully lined. The materials are good, which means they hang really well. They are designed for plus Size women so they know how to help with our lumps & bumps.
I shop also in Europe & Greece. It is amazing just spending time on the internet & patience how you are rewarded BUT we should not have to do it. What is wrong with the designers here. Perhaps they would have gone bankrupt if they had catered for us?

I love love love the sentiment but just one comment - the Abercrombie and Fitch reference happened six years ago, was taken out of context (supposedly!) and it's only this year that an apology has been issued. I think we need to ensure we don't get caught up in the medi hype AGAIN over those statements (but agree wholeheartedly...just put a bikini on!)
