I actually think "People of The Book" by Geraldine Brooks is better than "The Year of Wonders".
The power of One by Bryce Courtney is a superb book and well worth reading. It is the best way to get to understand the Apartheid years of South Africa, that no history book can explain. To me it is weird that it is on the list of the best Australian books.
