The Best and Worst bits of the week

We’re at the end of what was possibly the shortest working week ever (thank you, 5 day weekend!) and it’s time to look back and talk about our best and worst bits of the week.

This week on Mamamia we have really gotten into the spirit of the royal wedding and discussed wedding rings, Kate Middleton and if republicans can look forward to the royal wedding.

We talked about female friendships and religion, debated birth order and how plus-size models are making us “fat”.

We looked at the most revolting hate-group in the world, shared stories about loving your children, we read a beautiful post from Jo Foster about those who work with abused children and discussed the c-word.

Oh and Mamamia Live on Sky News was finally launched on Tuesday night – you can read all about it here.

Now. Back to the tradition that is sharing our best and worsts of the week. I’ve always found that having to pinpoint your best and worst moments makes you think. In a good way.

This week, for a change of pace, I’m stepping back and Lana is posting her best and worst of what’s been a huge week for her.

Lana writes…

Best – Amazing week.  In fact I was hoping to tell my old life how good this life is so old life if you are listening….

I went with Mia and Rick to the filming of Mamamia Live on Sky News. I was like a kid in a candy shop.  So exciting to be a part of and to see what goes on behind the scenes.  Just when I thought life couldn’t get more exciting I got to meet Richard Glover on Wednesday.  He is my celebrity crush and even more so now that I have seen him “in action”.  To top off a brilliant week I went to the launch of Kerri Sackville’s book.  A brilliant book and a stunning night

Worst – Feel like I have not been a very present mother and wife.

What were your best and worst bits of the week?

Best: the divine royal wedding. Highlight of my week (sad but true, see below)!

Worst: I'm pretty sure I have had a miscarriage. Heavy bleeding (for 8 days so far), really bad cramping and even passed some big clots and pink/grey tissue today. So disappointed. So scared - does this mean I need to follow up with a D&C? I was 7 weeks as of Saturday. I had an ultrasound on Friday and my cervix was closed (good news at that stage) but I have since had worse bleeding and cramping.

Worst 2: My hubby had a major operation last week (which thankfully was successful although he's in a world of pain). So... I've been struggling with looking after him plus my two little kids and with the additional worry of being unwell myself. Had a huge fight via text with mum as she is just two hours drive away but never comes to stay and I needed her this week. She has only seen us (and her grandkids!) once this year. She actually said via text today that she thinks I only use her for babysitting. I asked when have we actually done that (she never visits and has rarely ever babysat!) and she never replied. I almost feel like doing a Jennifer Aniston and cutting all ties. This all leads to a pretty bad mental health week for me. Here's to a better one next week!

Ecidnac, I'm so sorry, what a horrible time for you. I hope things get better very quickly for you and your family.

Best – I got to meet Mia and Bec Sparrow today at the Ultimate Girly High Tea in Brisbane to raise money for flood and cyclone survivors – AND Mia said she liked my top – awesome, as a close second – watching the Royal Wedding with some friends and family at a “Tiara and PJ’s Party” at ours with some scrummy food.
Worst – There are still families, children and elderly Australians living in sheds, pergola’s, carports and in the shells of their houses after the floods and cyclones in Queensland – this is a message I got today from a single Mum we have been helping in Brisbane – “what you are doing now, helping people, is so important. I see and feel the pain of so many in my neighbourhood and really worry about the long-term mental and physical health of everyone affected. I keep trying to focus on the positive and not on all the stuff we lost. But it’s not easy. I really wish the Premier would facilitate the release of donated funds so that we could start to get walls and doors. It’s cold at night!” If you would like to help please see the Heart Army at Brisbane Adoption on Facebook or the Web at http://www.facebook.com/?re... or http://www.brisbaneadoption... – Have a SUPER week everyone !!
