Last night, The Bachelor contestants finally broke out of the beauty mould.

Something major happened on The Bachelor last night. For the first time, it wasn’t the fashion that we were focused on, but the makeup. (Sorry Richie.)

The “natural” curls and smokey eyes that have previously dominated the cocktail parties were almost nowhere to be seen.

There was straight hair. There was everyone's favourite lazy-day hairstyle, the top knot, snazzed up with hairspray. And there was goddamn fluoro-coloured eyeshadow.

Yes, The Bachelor has finally broken out of its beauty mould and brought ~drama~ of its own.

Listen: Keira Maguire joins the latest ep of Bach Chat. Post continues after audio.

The most notable stand-out was Olena. First she broke the rules by wearing a jumpsuit in the very first episode, now she quite possibly made TV history by wearing bright orange eyeshadow on our screens.

Not only that, the 23 year old absolutely rocked it.

Could this be the colour women everywhere now reach for when getting ready to go out? Look, we doubt we're THAT brave but it sure is nice to appreciate it on someone else.

Nikki's eye look could very well be the stepping stone to get us there though.

At first glance you might have missed her violet-lined eyes. But when she accepted her rose? BAM. Beautiful.

The final contestant to rock the beauty boat last night was Faith. Poor dear Faith.

She may have been the surprise boot, but before she left she taught us a valuable lesson - our go-to messy half-up, half-down topknot can be made cocktail-party appropriate.

Just add texture, a tonne of hairspray and some statement earrings.

Here's hoping the rule-breaking continues next week.
