CULT BUY: The $69 Target trench coat that looks designer.

This week, Target released its latest Preview workwear collection and promise, it’s not your run-of-the-mill workwear.

For context, Preview is Target’s premium ‘desk to dinner’ corporate/workwear range. After launching last October, the Aussie retailer stocked its racks with the full collection of women’s (and men’s) workwear on Thursday.

Think smart-casual office pieces in quality fabrics that can be dressed up or down – it mirrors the styles and cuts of other workwear labels like Portmans and Cue, but at a slightly lower price point.

Here’s some more workwear style inspiration, post continues after video.

The range is available in-store and online right now (check it out here) and includes slim fit pants with leg detailing, a brilliant matching grey checked pantsuit, a lovely bright blue silk textured blouse and comfy, boardroom-appropriate culottes, along with other staples.

But the item we really care about is the Preview Soft Trench Coat.

It’s $69 and looks uncannily like Meghan Markle’s favourite trench coat.

Remember the $2,394 Martin Grant Trench Coat the Duchess of Sussex wore almost everyday on the royal tour of Australia in 2018?

The Target one is only a 34th of the cost.

It feels nice and soft, is light-weight and  great for layering as the weather (eventually) gets cooler.

Similar to the Martin Grant trench design, Target's is a classic sandy/stone double-breasted trench and has top trench panels on the front and back, an inner lining for extra warmth/sturdiness, a removable tie-up belt, front pockets and adjustable wrist buckles.

The coat comes in two colours, sand and black, in women's sizes 6-20 (if you buy online, you'll want to give the coat a good steam as the material does crinkle).

You can wear it over almost any outfit to make it look more polished and professional - we'll be wearing ours with tapered pants or midi length skirts, or over jeans and a white t-shirt with sneakers on the weekends.

Seriously, we're all going to look so good wearing this to work next week.

I'm short & plump so I would never wear a trench coat - especially in light colors.
I just don't think they're flattering on anyone actually.
Those striped pants are cute though.
My "hippy tastes" mean that I probably wouldn't wear the blouse, shoes & bag either - not that anyone should care what I think.
Why am I bothering to write this ?
I guess I don't want other "short, plump" people to make the same mistakes I've made in responding to similar clothing suggestions.
