The drastic steps Tara Moss takes to protect her daughter's privacy.

Author Tara Moss has taken an important stance against the publication of images of celebrity children saying she has been forced to file a formal complaint to the Press Council.

Moss, the mother of a five-year-old daughter, has written a compelling blog post about her support for the #NoKidsPolicy for paparazzi images and how her family has been affected.

She writes: “I have made a formal complaint to the Press Council in the hope of having identifying images of my young daughter, which were taken by a stranger without our consent or knowledge, removed from or blurred in an article published in the media and still available online.”

Moss’s call for an adoption of the #NoKidsPolicy follows in the footsteps of Hollywood actors Kristen Bell, Halle Berry and Jennifer Garner who have championed the issue in the US for several years.

Moss acknowledges that it takes some effort and she would prefer to “show her beautiful face to the world” but that it is a decision she and her husband have taken.

“My daughter is not newsworthy” she writes” except in so much as her mother writes books and periodically writes opinion pieces or appears on TV.”

Editor's note: Mamamia's long-standing editorial policy is to never use paparazzi photos of any kind. We firmly back Tara Moss's call for a #nokidspolicy.

TM is all class. Shes a triple threat as the saying goes. She's as beautiful as she is smart and champions great causes and campaigns. I whole heartedly agree with what she is doing and even think this should be extended to local media where schools and students are named - famous or not - in publications and sites. I know when my niece appeared in a local paper I was really taken aback at how much information is available without needing parent consent! There are still not enough safeguards for kids in the community and this should be policed more strictly.

Have to agree, she is the epitome of class. Time and time again Tara speaks and lives integrity. Children should not be used as tabloid fodder by parents or papps.
