A chilling recording reveals the last moments of a desperate Tara Brown’s life.
The Gold Coast mum called Triple-0 begging for help in the moments before she was bashed to death, police allege.
Lionel John Patea, 24, the man accused of killing Ms Brown, was yesterday ordered to stand trial for murder after a committal hearing at Southport Magistrates Court.
Court documents included in the police brief of evidence against Patea and obtained by The Courier Mail, include over 80 witness statements and the triple-0 call.
The call was allegedly made just after Ms Brown, 24, dropped her daughter at the Nerang childcare centre around 8.45 on September 8.
It continues as Ms Brown begs Patea to stop, and on the call the sound of a crash can be heard. The line remains open as Ms Brown, trapped in the wreckage, is beaten severely, police will allege.
She died in hospital from her injuries the next day.
Five days earlier Ms Brown had gone to the police for help, allegedly showing them a series of text messages from her partner and saying she feared for her safety.
Ms Brown is one of 76 women killed by violence in Australia so far this year, and her former employer, solicitor Jason Hall, told the ABC it was important her case remained in the public eye.
“I think it’s quite critical because we’ve got a situation where there’s been so many domestic violence incidents over this last period, that something’s got to change,” he said.

There has to be something stronger in existence than intervention orders / restraining orders for cases such as these.

One of the 5 men who raped a 14 year old gets bail today due to the judge not ruling him as a "threat" - how is that possible when he raped someone.. isn't that the definition of a threat?
It comes down to other people deciding if you are in danger or not. Someone who knows nothing about your story other than on paper, and that person apparently has the right to judge you as safe or unsafe. Its Bullsh//
I convinced my friend time and time again to get an intervention order on her ex and when she finally got the courage to do it she was rejected for the intervention order and was assaulted by her partner less than 48 hours later.
The system failed her and it is continuing to fail innocent people
