Hero, Shocker and Whinger of the Week.

Welcome to Hero, Shocker and Whinger of the Week.

Where we bring you: Someone awesome, someone shocking and someone who called the Waaahmbulance.

Let’s begin.

Hero(es) of the Week goes to…

The local newsreaders who agreed to indulge Jimmy Fallon by reading out fake good news.

It’s been a pretty bad/sad/not glad news week. But Jimmy Fallon decided to change that, by giving some American local news readers some happy stories to read out.

Take a look:

Shocker of the Week goes to…

Texas’ decision to strike out a law designed to stop people from taking pictures up women’s skirts.

If there’s one liberty you can rely on Texas to uphold, it’s the first amendment. And they did just that this week when the Texas Court of Appeals ruled 8-1 that a law banning “improper photography” (the taking of photos or videos of another person without their consent and with the intent to “arouse or gratify the sexual desire of any person”) was contrary to the American constitutional right to freedom of speech.

In her judgment, Judge Sharon Keller said the laws promoted a “paternalistic interest in regulating the defendant’s mind”.

Whinger of the Week goes to…

The man who called 911 three times because he was lonely and wanted someone to talk to.

According to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, a Pennsylvania man was jailed on Wednesday on charges of making false reports to the authorities. The man told paramedics various stories each time he called over a four hour period, including that he fell down the stairs and injured his neck.

Are we living in Australia or America??? 3 out of 3!

Absolutely 10 years ago

Absolutely agree given the past few days with Terrorist hysteria, the stunt by the PM in AL, Hi Ho we're off to war etc.
All overshadowed by the really important stuff going on with a USA newsreader?, up skirting laws in Texas and wait for it - some idiot who calls 911 in the States for company.
Gee, I must have missed those world changing events whilst absorbed with a little bit of news closer to home!
Surprised a cat in a tree wasn't also mentioned or [insert US celeb name] had a dress malfunction or wore wrong colour lippy.

# HERO- how about all the fantastic heroes who worked tirelessly to find 3 yold William to no avail.
# SHOCKER- the Govt's orchestration over war, terrorists and media diversion. Add not attending the UN by sending a delegate to address CC when 130 other countries did.
# WHINGER- Jacqui Lambie for her uneducated bogan responses to multicultural Australia and one of the worlds largest religions.

PS dumbing down i
