Mamamia's short film of the week captures what a breakup really feels like.

Introducing: Mamamia’s ‘Short of the Week’ series.

Every week, we will feature our favourite short film from the week’s submissions. From doco to drama, comedy to sci-fi, music video to monologue, any genre goes.

Heartbreaking, serious, provocative, hilarious – these stories are our currency.

The first film we are featuring, ‘I miss you’, is by young film makers Anton Sheptooha and Nick L’Barrow.

It is based on a Moonfruit Comics’ ‘Reasons’ by Robyn Slack and is a story about first love and first heartbreaks.

You can watch it here:

Wow. Bawling. I miss him every day. I miss my best friend. Every day. The pain doesn't go away, I have dated someone else didn't work out part of reason was I don't think I was ready. The love didn't go away, we just couldn't be together and things could not change. That's the hardest part when the love is there but it's not going to work. I used to laugh at that when I was younger. Then I went through it and the hardest thing I have ever had to do. Man I thought I would spend my life with after 5 years. Big love thought my last love. I read somewhere we all stay partly heartbroken and new love helps heal the pain. I miss him. If you have not been heartbroken you are the exception and count yourself lucky in some ways.

It goes away. Even if you don't meet someone else, it goes away. It really does take half the time a la sex and the city; we were 14 years together, now 8 years apart and guess what? Nothing except a distant vague fondness for times past. We broke up for similar reasons- still very much in love but wanted different things. I never met anyone else serious, although I do now have a child whom is my everything. I have bought and sold 2 houses, had a baby, travelled, go on 3 holidays a year, love my work which helps so many and I am deeply beautifully contented with my blessed life (and grateful for it every day.)

It goes away! Hang in there.

Hoy Jesus. The acting from Alex Fitzalan in that was especially good. I am this close to being in tears at the moment.

Well done to everyone involved in that!
