Sex And The City 2 New Trailer

Isn’t it funny how you can watch a show for free on TV for years and then watch re-runs for years on cable and STILL be unbelievably excited about a SEQUEL to a movie. I was about 8 months pregnant when I went to see Sex and the City #1 and it seems that Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha have been living in real time because the movie is coming out almost two years after the first film ended.

Excited?

The Guardian had two opposing views this week when it asked the question: IS IT TIME TO PUT SEX & THE CITY OUT OF ITS MISERY?

YES: Eva Wiseman, Commissioning editor on Observer magazine

The trailer for Sex and the City 2 was released this week, and it’s not good. In fact, it’s bad. It’s set in Abu Dhabi. It’s set in a time when the idea of a holiday in Abu Dhabi is met with gasps of excitement rather than raised eyebrows. The question asked this time, in Sarah Jessica Parker‘s knowing sing-song growl, is “What happens after you say ‘I do’?”

NO: Jo Elvin, Editor of Glamour magazine

Frankly, why shouldn’t we allow ourselves a little escapism? We’ve had a crappy time economically and a bloody awful winter, so why can’t we simply enjoy the Manolos trotting across the screen for a couple of hours? I watched the trailer and immediately found myself getting excited – it’s so colourful and happy. I think I’ll go with some of the girls from the office and we can hide behind the spurious veil of it being a research trip.

I absolutely loved the series but the movie was such a disappointment. I just hope this second one is better than the first one!

My friends and I have already planned our night and bought our tickets - cocktails/dinner/movie.

I am totally excited - and some of the storylines appeal to me - stressed out mother, marriage ho-hum although granted mine is not taking place in an Upper East Side apartment while wearing Chanel and Jimmy Choos!!

It's all a bit of fun, but I agree you need to end on a high note rather than keep it going just to cash in.

Personally I am bit over the Carrie/Big thing so hope that this one is more than just that.

Also both writers made a point that Abu Dhabi was so two years ago. I think they need to look a bit more closely at the demographic that is watching SATC - more housewives than globetrotting journalists or fashionistas. Abu Dhabi is still glam to me!
