Generally, a selfie is defined being taken with a hand-held device, being an impulsive and "fun" image, not a well-lit and staged "performance" after which the best shot is chosen.
Exactly. Here's are selfies using the timer on my camera. As I have done quite a bit of solo travel, I've been doing this for many years, even before digital and well before the word 'selfie' came about. Some of my best photos have been selfies.
