Sarah Harris: "I was pregnant and the body shamers came out."

From the outside, you’d be forgiven for thinking Studio 10 presenter Sarah Harris has juggled her recent pregnancy, career and new motherhood with total ease.

Her Instagram is a gorgeous array of shots of her beautiful six-month old son Paul, the fun she has with her Channel 10 colleagues, and the glamorous dresses she gets to wear on the red carpet.

But Harris, 34, has opened up in a new interview about the challenges she’s faced as both a pregnant woman and new mum with a high-profile career — and her struggle with body-shamers is something no woman should have to deal with.

“When I was pregnant and the body shamers came out, some of the stuff I got hit with on Twitter… it was awful and really tough,” Harris told Jonathon Moran of The Daily Telegraph in an interview.

“When you’re hormonal and you’re getting up at stupid o’clock in the morning for work, it can really wear you down and there are times where you wonder if it’s worth putting yourself out there and having an opinion.”

Harris, 34, said she’s now learned to block out the nasty comments of strangers– with the help of friend and colleague Jessica Rowe.

“We work in a job where you put yourself out there to be judged every day and if you let yourself listen to your critics and only focus on that, it can really get you down so you have to block that crap out,” she added.

Harris also says she hasn’t yet bounced back to her pre-pregnancy weight, but she’s at peace with that.

“There are days I think it would be nice if I could fit into my pre-pregnancy jeans but then Paul will do this gorgeous laugh or roll over or do something amazing,” she said.

“You can’t do it all. I can’t be working full time, raising a kid and hitting the gym seven days a week, and I don’t want to.

“I’d rather be hanging out with my kid than pushing myself to get back to this unrealistic weight.”

You can watch Sarah Harris shut-down body shamers on Studio 10 here..

This is not the first time Harris has dropped some #realtalk about the normal body changes that come with bearing a child.

In October last year, Harris revealed on Studio 10 she had read the comments on a Daily Mail article that ran some off-duty photos of her pregnant body.

“Some of them were just revolting. Having a go at how huge I am, how fat I am, how ugly I am,” Harris said of the comments.

“When you’re pregnant you do feel very vulnerable and self-conscious about your body. And it did feel pretty awful about the comments and the pictures… [But] I thought, Do you know what? Bugger it. I’m growing a baby, this is me.”

She continued: “That’s what I look like and that’s okay. I hope those photos of me make other pregnant women feel better about their bodies.”

As for the body shamers? Harris has a message for you.

“On behalf of all the pregnant women out there… I want to say to the haters- Get stuffed.”

Brava, Sarah Harris, for putting things into perspective.

And by the way, we think you look completely great.

Did you ever encounter body-shaming during your own pregnancy?

Yeah I don't watch her show but she looks great! She looked beautiful pregnant and she looks beautiful now. Motherhood suits her.
Why strangers would criticize a woman's body image pregnant or not is beyond me.
I was huge with my 1st and had a teeny basketball with my 2nd. Our bodies are amazing.

Well I think she looks gorgeous, has a gorgeous baby and a gorgeous husband. Other people's negativity and jealousy is not her burden to bear, it's theirs.
