A random kid just managed to get one of the best ever celebrity selfies.

A kid in the US has managed to give himself immediate lifelong legend status, after taking what is possibly the best selfie of all time:

YEP. THAT IS PAUL MCCARTNEY AND WARREN BUFFET SITTING ON A BENCH LIKE IT AINT NO THING.

The kid in the picture is Tom White. He told HuffPo that he and his friends heard that Paul McCartney was at a local ice cream shop, so they raced down there with a guitar hoping to get an autograph. When they got there, McCartney’s bodyguard wouldn’t let them come close enough for autographs or handshakes, but he did let them take as many photos as they wanted.

What makes this story even more awesome (more awesome than a selfie with Paul McCartney and Warren Buffet at least), is that Paul McCartney then RETWEETED Tom’s photo, and referred to Tom as HIS FRIEND:

Retire now, kid. Your life has officially peaked.

Pretty crappy he wouldn't allow the guitar to be signed. I wonder if the re-tweet was damage control for not doing the autograph?

I think the no autographs thing is pretty standard because if they allow one person then hundreds more will show up and the celebrity ends up mobbed and can't do what they were trying to do and the business they were in (like the ice cream shop McCartney was in) grinds to a halt because of the masses of people clogging the entry etc. One or two autographs on a piece of paper is reasonable, but if you want a guitar signed it's probably best to attend an official signing event.
By all accounts McCartney is a generous and kind man, so I think the re-tweet was just him being his usual friendly self and the no autograph rule is a standard set by his security to keep life running as smoothly and normally as possible for everyone.

Well, now they're officially friends he could always arrange a private signing at a different time.

I am not buying your excuse. I have met famous people, it's been far from what you have described. He is sitting on a chair, outside, he hardly looks like he is being mobbed and preventing life running smoothly.
