This apartment resident's note to neighbours about bin night is brutally brilliant.

I hate paying electricity bills. My phone bill is always late. And I always forget to take out the garbage bins.

Yes, I’m horrible at adulting but I’m not the only one.

One apartment-block dweller has grown sick of the bin situation. They plastered a note on the door to the building and it’s gone viral.

Why?

Because it’s fantastically passive aggressive.

“The person who does this job 90 per cent of the time will not be doing this for a while,” the post reads. “Here is a how-to guide for those other residents who might want to help.”

And the “how-to” guide is very, very dad-like in its educational tone.

“The bins go out on Monday night. The bins come in on Tuesday night,” the signs says. Complete with diagrams, of course.

Passive aggressive presents. Post continues below.

We know all this because the partner of a guy who lives in the apartment block posted a photo of the sign to Reddit.

“Someone in my boyfriend’s apartment block is laying down the law…” the post reads, alongside the photograph below.

The Reddit thread has gone... off.

Some stand in solidarity with the sign-poster

I totally understand this person. I do the bins at my place (just me and my housemate) and without fail, if I'm away, he doesn't do them. - hutcho66

I need to put one of these up in my apartment block, too! - andrew_ansible

Picture prompts, yer, they work sometimes but there are those out there who will never understand what bin night is all about. - fullcost

Some have more sympathy for the "other residents"

See, for me it's like this: Bins go out on Thursday night. Bins come in... sometime between Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon, because f*cked if I can be bothered bringing bins in when I get home on a Friday afternoon. – tjsr via Reddit.

Do they need to go out every week? I found that when my flatmate was away, I had a lot less rubbish, and there was no point in taking them out every week. - megablast

And there was this, very honest, question

If you're dating a guy that is too lazy to put the bins out now, what do you think hes going to be like in 20 years? - hedaik1

... Ouch.

My bins come in once my teenager gets sick of being yelled at about it and finally brings them in. :-)

Yeah I kind of get it...we're one of the only two in our block of six who put our bins out every week (some haven't gone out at all since around early November), and our neighbours seem to think we're the chosen ones or something and our bins are magically self-emptying so just put their rubbish in ours week after week. We've taken to hiding ours in our garage so we actually have room for our own rubbish, but I genuinely believe our neighbours don't know how the system works...
