The teenage girl who just gave the world a shocking insight into life in Gaza right now.

Farah Baker is 16 years old.

She has two younger sisters aged 14 and 6, a loving mum, and a father who’s a neurosurgeon.

Farah should be doing her homework or enjoying free time after school with friends — But instead, she fears for her life.

You see, Farah lives in Gaza, where a bloody conflict between Hamas and Israel has reportedly claimed over 1200 lives in just over three weeks, the BBC reports.

On Monday night, the teenager live-tweeted one of the scariest nights she’s ever endured — posting pictures, videos and messages to document a missile attack near her home.

She’s ammased more than 62,000 followers on Twitter since the frightening night, and her moving descriptions of the night’s events — which add a moving, human perspective to the ongoing, deeply complex conflict — have drawn worldwide media coverage.

Click through the gallery below to read parts of her troubling account from the night:

If you’d like to read an account of the conflict from a woman living in Tel Aviv, see this post.

Maybe what we should wonder about, is the innocent people on both sides who are suffering?
No matter the reason for the conflict, innocent people are dying. Humanity always fiinds a 'reason' to kill. It's devastating.

It is also a fallacy and false equivalency to say each side are suffering equally. One is a occupying power and the other is occupied people seeking their right to self-determination. Any civilian death is a tragedy. Unfortunately for all of Israel's 'precision' 90% of the over 1000 dead have been civilians. 53 of the 56 Israeli dead are soldiers, completely legitimate targets under IHL.
