Open Post: What's happening in your world?

Open post is where you get to tell us everything that’s going on in your world this week. After Mamamia Intern Alison fills you in about hers, obviously…

For those of you who haven’t been here before, Open Post is one of Mamamia’s most loved posts. It’s the one that goes up every Wednesday morning (sometimes almost at midday *ahem*) where we talk about everything that’s happened in our week.

So I’ll kick off.

As of right now I have been working at Mamamia as their newest intern for exactly 7 days, 2 hours, 42 minutes and 13 seconds, and I have loved every single minute of it. Imagine walking into the work place of your dreams and then times that feeling by a thousand and that’s how I have felt coming to work every day this past week. Mamamia is seriously awesome. The people are inspiring, I get to write about stuff I care about and I am learning so much every day.

Me hard at work at Mamamia HQ

As a Melbournite, I have travelled far and wide to be here (not really, my plane ride was over before I could finish my episode of SVU). This is the second time I have been to Sydney and I can only sum up my relationship with Sydney town as a love-hate relationship. So here are my top loves and hates of Sydney…

Love: I love how aesthetically pretty Sydney is. When I first stepped off the train at Circular Quay (which i quickly learnt is pronounced “key” – so embarrassing) I was amazed at the beauty of the harbour. The bridge, the water, the beautiful buildings – it’s hard not to love everything you see. Nothing in Melbourne compares to Sydney Harbour and it is a definite plus for Sydney.

Oh Sydney, just stop it.

Hate: The hills. So many hills. Why Sydney, why? As a moderately fit person (*cough cough*) I am not a fan of hills. But during my week in Sydney I have had to become accustomed to the burn in my calves as I involuntarily engage in some inclination walking. Definite con.

Love: I love seafood and I have had the pleasure of enjoying the BEST prawns I have ever had in my entire life. For all those seafood junkies out there get ready to write this down, Waterfront Restaurant located in The Rocks. Seriously amazing – get on it.

The view from the restaurant. Amazing.

So there you have it, that’s my week, the good and the bad.

Now over to you lovely MM readers…

I am having a little 2 day break with my Mum before the end of the holidays. We are staying in Pottsville in Northern NSW which is just gorgeous. But the highlight of the day so far has been a visit to the Margaret Olley exhibition at the Tweed Heads Regional Art Gallery. They have recreated rooms from her house in Sydney which are fabulous along with artworks and lots of interesting info. I would highly recommend it to anyone...we are going back again tomorrow on the way home! Will be good to check out the other works.

Love Pottsville! Great markets down that way!

I only managed to find this article because someone was nice enough to post a link in another comment thread.

Could we get an explanation on what is going on. Are there going to be any changes at all to the new format? Maybe I'm atypical but the atrocious navigation has certainly seen me using this site less.

That link someone supplied in the news thread no longer goes to this page, instead it directs to an Open Post from three years ago.

Things are just getting weird now.

And, to add insult to injury, I decided to fill in the survey that popped up in the corner. I got half way through (to annual salary) and couldn't continue because there was no "next" button.
